Majesty palm tree

[edit]

There is a misconception that this is just a store-bought plant:

However, in its native Madagascar, this tree can reach 60 meters/98 feet in height.

It also can grow as a tree in tropical and subtropical landscapes such as south Florida and California.

I want this article to help clear up this misconception by making it clear that the thing you bought in the store is just a baby palm (all leaves). Given a warm, tropical place to grow, that baby can become a majestic tree..hence the name, "majesty" palm.

I'm not sure if Palmpedia allows their images to be used but here's a majesty palm grove in its native habitat in Madagascar:

So much more impressive than the potted plant at the local Wal-Mart! Ryoung122 19:26, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Isolated wet habitat in dry area

Does it's habitat count as a gallery forest? B137 (talk) 01:51, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
