[edit]Too little has been added about Premada's crimes and his death. Absolutely nothing about his propaganda throughout the television media where every news cast started with him as the subject.

[edit]Actually I've come come back to add more. It would an absolute crime to have this page remain in its current form. The only links at the bottom of the page go to Pro Premadasa web sites.
To put in stark terms Premadasa was a monster (not the only one in Sri Lanka at the time), but without doubt the worst one. He had thousands killed. Not just subversives and terrorist but innocent people by the score. Many people have fled the island because of the security forces.
His rule was a time of absolute terror from every direction.
To give a whitewash like this as write up indicates either a lack of knowledge about the man or a total contempt for history. Either way it is wrong.

[edit]Everything above this topic in this page was written by someone who does not know what they were talking about. President Premadasa was a great man. So much so that most people in the country still have respect for him and consider him the greatest president the country has ever seen. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.43.164.211 (talk) 11:58, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Wrong Date of Death
[edit]This article, as well as the List of Sri Lanka Presidents, shows Ranasnghe Premadasa as Preside4nt until May 1, 1994. This is incorrect. Premadasa was already dead when I arrived in Sri Lanka in December 1993, and Wijetunga was President. According to this New York Times article, Premadasa was assassinated May Day, 1993.
