I was hoping that this article would explain why the, United States Army, rather than the, United States Air Force, would be the ones with such an experimental manned rocket program, though in the movie, the chimpanzee was the intended passenger, not Hoxie. But it doesn't. I'm aware that the USAF, began as a division of the Army. But the year of release, plus the setting and time, would seem to indicate that it shouldn't be an Army base, but instead, an Air Force base.
