Serious Rewrite
[edit]Rage Comics are a big part of Internet culture. I'd rewrite if I had time. 24.104.127.1 (talk) 00:43, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
FYI, this is a huge phenomenon
[edit]It's already exceeded Rickrolling in search interest:
http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=rage%20comics%2Crickroll&cmpt=q
Rickrolling was extremely popular in the media and thus easily led to a huge article. Rage comics aren't so easy to find in articles, but it's actually becoming more significant as a phenomenon.

Another potential reference
[edit]A Rage Comic 86 Years In The Making 86-year-old war veteran tells his life story through a rage comic. Anyone familiar with Bleeding Cool? How is it as a source? It doesn't look user-submitted, at least.

Educational Review Umich/SI 110
[edit]You guys successfully were able to add examples of Rage Comics which made it easier to get a better understanding of that readers can expect to get out of the website. Focusing on the more popular comics was also a good thing to do. It seems like it can be hard to find information on pictures but you guys handled it rather well. However, the article seems to lack information in regards to topics such as the creation on Rage Comics and other general information in regards to Rage Comics. Eamjr (talk) 19:30, 28 March 2014 (UTC)eamjr
I think this article did a successful job in explaining what a Rage Comic is. You guys gave a detailed explanation defining the term Rage Comic that any user would be able to understand. The best part of this article was the descriptive examples you guys presented. You explained the differences between Phrase Rage Comics and Picture Rage Comics and used examples for both of those types of Rage Comics. The one thing I think you guys could have done to enhance your article would be to add more pictures showing the reader what a Rage Comic actually looks like, as you guys only posted one picture. Jtoll11 (talk) 22:27, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
This article can now successfully explain what a Rage Comic is in full due to the inclusion of examples. Giving different categories of Rage Comics, as well as popular examples of those categories helps readers fully understand the concept. A picture for each example may have rounded the article off ever further, but the explanations are detailed and sufficient. I think a crucial aspect to Rage Comics and Memes is that they're generally user-generated content, which could have been included at the top of the article. This and an explanation to how users post to the sites mentioned in History may add some context as well for readers learning about a Rage Comic. Chanss1 (talk) 23:00, 28 March 2014 (UTC)
This page for Rage Comics would be improved with the addition of a picture of the rage comic for each example given. Although you can link through to them using the references posted, it would be more effective to have them directly on the page. I have a sense of what different rage comics may look like from past experience online; however, someone with no previous knowledge might be confused. Another point of improvement would be to further explain the difference between a rage comic and a meme. Memes were mentioned without fully distinguishing what they are. On the other hand, a lot of interesting hyperlinks were included which allowed a more full understanding of the topic. I also think this article was successful in the number and range of examples given. I especially enjoyed the “usage” description of each one of them. The usage section is very helpful to those looking at how to use a specific rage comic in the commonly understood way. Sammygg (talk) 02:53, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
This article provides many good examples of "Rage Comics", and with pretty good sources to back up where they came from. I especially like that you included the bit about the origins of the Yao Ming face coming from reddit. That shows some nice in depth research, going to sites you might not usually visit. However, I think that the general layout is not that pleasing to the eyes. Many of the sections seem too short to stand on their own, so a bit more meat in some of the paragraphs would not go amiss. Also, I don't think the picture of the Challenge Accepted meme needs the caption underneath. Perhaps come up with a different caption or just remove the caption altogether, as the meme itself already says "Challenge Accepted". Otherwise, well done! Quinlal (talk) 03:00, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
I think this article has come a long way from when it first started out. That being said, there is also a lot of room for improvement. The layout of the article is unorganized and can be difficult to look up specific rage faces without using ctrl+F. It seemed like a bunch of examples of rage faces put into one article instead of an article explaining what they are. I would say, either make a more extensive list of all the different rage faces or explain their use and culture in terms of the overall picture. Maybe even both. I think some sort of chart or other visuals would also help break up the text and make the article more visually appealing. Jayneliu (talk) 03:33, 29 March 2014 (UTC)
- It sounds like a List of rage faces Similar to List of Internet phenomena most likely, only divided up by mood instead of medium or something along those lines might be what you're suggesting, but in order to do that, we'd need more than a few sources describing the different ones. I'll see about doing a deep search for references tomorrow. Also, we've got Challenge Accepted guy and a couple other pictures, but we'd probably need more for said list, anyone out there have good MS Paint skills and can make some of the other simpler ones? [edit]Why doesn't this page have an image? Rage comics are unusually difficult to describe in-text-only. Tezero (talk) 02:48, 17 October 2014 (UTC)

Serious OR problems.
[edit]There is not a single citation beyond the History section. All of the examples, together with helpful hints at interpretation, seem to be purely a case of original research. Honestly, if we can't find a reliable source that distinguishes the "Fuck That" Yao Ming usage from the "Bitch Please" usage, then maybe it shouldn't be included in the article.
Please, let's trim the OR sections. Phiwum (talk) 01:42, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
Removed examples section
[edit]I have removed the examples section, because there isn't a single citation found there. Perhaps these examples are noteworthy, and perhaps the interpretations perfectly apt, but the fact is that unless we can cite a reliable source which agrees with what we say here, this is a violation of the original research rule.
Please, find citations and replace the material, if you'd like. But don't revert without citations, please. Phiwum (talk) 17:52, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
rage comics are no longer funny
[edit]I just want to thank whoever put that "most popular around 2010" line near the top. Most recent memes just don't last long enough to get represented on Wikipedia, so people finding out for the first time about Internet memes need to be notified somehow that the ones Wikipedia has catalogued aren't funny anymore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Some kid with no life (talk • contribs) 19:19, 6 February 2018 (UTC)
- That's true almost by definition, since Wikipedia can't cover memes (or anything else) until they've received significant coverage from reliable sources; and given how fast Internet culture moves, it's frequently the case that by the time a meme is worthy of inclusion, it's not 'current' any more.
