Hi there MX. In the death section, you talk about 'several reports' and 'media outlets' giving the sense of multiple (>3) sources, but there are only two sources referenced. This might need changing, either the number of sources included or the wording. Apart from that, the article looks great. I invite you to look over my copyedit changes and see if you agree. Trying to reduce the GAN backlog, which is at a record high at the moment.

  • "baja del servicio activo"=desertion? I am not a native Spanish speaker but upon looking it up online, the translation seems to be release from service rather than desertion. The first reference states, "baja del Instituto Armado por haberla solicitado" which seems to be a voluntary, requested discharge from service.
Done Wow, good catch. A lot of Zetas members deserted from the military and I must have just added that without reading carefully.
  • "Another source stated he deserted from the Mexican military on 1 September 1999"—I would give both dates in text unless one source is more reliable than the other. I.e. "discharged from service either 1<ref> or 30 September 1993."
Done Removed footnote and added both dates. MX () 15:22, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "He then joined the Gulf Cartel, a criminal group based in Tamaulipas" I was not able to confirm this from the source, as it doesn't mention Tamaulipas or the Gulf Cartel.
Done I added an additional source that supports the fact that the Gulf Cartel is based in Tamaulipas. The first source says Hernandez Barron worked for "an organization linked to Osiel Cardenas Guillen", which essentially is the Gulf Cartel (as supported by the newly-added source. Good catch. I've added this additional source in another article. MX () 15:22, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Hernández Barrón is often cited as one of the founding members of Los Zetas" I'm not sure if the source confims this, because it states "conocido "miembro precursor del grupo delictivo denominado Los Zetas"", which has a slightly different meaning and doesn't support "often". Maybe "Hernández Barrón has been cited as one of the founding members of the precursor group of Los Zetas"?
Done "Miembro precursor" would translate to "founding member". I've removed "often" and kept it as: "Hernández Barrón was one of the founding members of Los Zetas." MX () 15:22, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "media outlets from South Texas inadvertently stated that Hernández Barrón was arrested" Why inadvertently? Didn't they report it deliberately? Perhaps you mean "incorrectly".
 Done Yes, I meant "incorrectly". I thought they were interchangeable. MX () 15:22, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, please move the sources which give the Rio Grande City location before the footnote.
Done I've moved the footnote after the sources. MX () 15:22, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Sometime between 2010 and 2014, Hernández Barrón was released from custody and resumed his organized crime activities" The source doesn't say that he was released during or after 2010; actually, it doesn't say anything explicit about his release or that he resumed his organized crime activities between 2010 and 2014.
You're right. Essentially what happened here is that Hernandez Barron was still reported as being in Mexican custody in 2010 when the OFAC designated him under the Kingpin Act. But he was eventually killed in a clash with security forces in 2014. So that would mean that sometime between the time 2010 and 2014, he was released. How could I reconcile this? Maybe a footnote could help? I've requested info from the Mexican government via their transparency law to clarify when this release occurred but all requests has been halted due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Well, per WP:V every statement in the article has to be backed up by a reliable source. In this case, I would just delete the sentence (which isn't supported by the source) and hope that readers can infer it from the next section (i.e. he could not be involved in a shootout while still imprisoned). I realize that this would confuse some readers but I don't see how this sentence can be kept without having a source for it. buidhe 23:38, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Buidhe: Sentence was removed. I left a note in the history page in case inquisitive readers ever see it. Thanks! MX () 00:53, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
