Very nice!
[edit]Wow. Very impressive work.
In the absence of a photo of the ship, I suggest we use the one of the child evacuees as the lead image. An unconventional choice, and it doesn't really serve the intended function of helping to identify the subject, but I think it's a charming photo and better than nothing, and it does show part of the ship.
Is it possible to give the propulsive power in kW? All we have now is NHP and the conversion is not obvious.
Other than that, I can't even find any typos. Kendall-K1 (talk) 12:41, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thankyou! Writing the article took me far longer than I had intended. In 2014 I created QSMV Dominion Monarch article, which had taken me about a year. Other contributors seemed to enjoy it, so I started Andes because it seemed to be a ship of comparable size, importance and interest. But I had more material on Andes, the article grew accordingly and it became a rather bigger and longer job than Dominion Monarch.
- I'm pleased with the Andes article but I'm very relieved to have completed it. I'd prefer to leave other contributors to develop the article as they see fit, with me free to think about other ships again at last. Please forgive me if that sounds like running away when, I admit, there are still improvements to be made!

- I would say you have done your share of the work. You may be excused. Kendall-K1 (talk) 23:43, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
Referencing
[edit]There are two Nicol sources listed in §Sources. There are quite a few {{sfn|Nicol|2001a|...}}
and {{sfn|Nicol|2001b|...}}
templates. None of the rendered short cites in §References link to the two Nicol sources because the two source cs1 templates use |year=2001
but one should use |year=2001a
and the other should use |year=2001b
.
The three Talbot-Booth short cites identify the publication date as 1936 but the cs1 template in §Sources uses 1942 as the publication date so those three links don't work.
Mann 2001b does not have a matching cite in §Sources.

- Do you have a tool that finds these types of errors? Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:29, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thankyou for checking the inline citations and identifying which ones weren't working. I've altered the Mann, Nichol and Talbot-Booth citations. Have I got them right now? Best wishes, Motacilla (talk) 22:02, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know. I think that only you know which of the two Nicol sources belongs where. I do know that the Mann short cite links to nowhere because there is no matching 2001 citation for Mann in §Sources – similarly, the 2005 Mann source doesn't appear to be used.
-
- You might want to strike Harnack from §Sources because it doesn't appear to be used anywhere.

Missing Photo
[edit]Shame there's no picture - I guess the main contributor had hunted high and wide. Perhaps a posting on the forum 'Ship Nostalgia' would produce a shot. I remember Andes from my MN days ... very nice ship and I envied a friend who did his first trip on her as a junior radio officer. Unfortunately he was seasick on his first watch ... right into the only typewriter. I don't think think they ever stopped the keys from sticking after this. User:Mikeo1938
