"I was posted to PAU Manorbier on 3 Jan 1946. The personnel were mainly Instrument fitters, as I was, and we modified aircraft instruments to switch electrical components on & off necessary, mainly for landing the aircraft. The aircraft in question were modified D.H. Tiger Moths, named Queen Moths after modification. The main job of these a/c was to tow a drogue for practice gunnery by the Army. An interesting fact about this Station was in its self sufficiency. Pigs, rabbits and chickens, eggs and many basic vegetables were raised/grown on Station, however life at Manorbier was too sedate for me and I was off to the Middle East in March 1946 (John Sandilands, Instrument Fitter - RAF service Feb 1943 to Jan 1950 - Transferred to RNZAF Feb 1950 - July 1971 "
