Does anyone have sources which support spelling his name with an accent? I can't find any anywhere. If not, we need to stick with "Ronan". // Hippo43 (talk) 19:38, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
So you're telling me you moved the article on Monday without actually having checked reliable sources, despite claiming that reliable sources outright do not refer to him as "Rónan"? – PeeJay06:39, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure looks that way, considering you made the claim that reliable sources spell it the other way and were confident enough to assert that it shouldn't be spelled with the accent. – PeeJay11:48, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
When I moved the page I wrote "common name. spelling used in reliable sources", which is correct. It is the spelling used in general in reliable sources, including his employers, who should know, and almost all media. (For example, looking at all of the references in the article now, 10 out of 11 don't use the accent.) On that basis, it was correct to move it. I didn't assert that it shouldn't be spelt with the accent - I don't know where you get that. I started a discussion and asked if anyone had sources for the accent being correct. It is easy enough to move it back if it was established that way.
From the references you gave above, I thought his own Instagram was compelling enough. It conflicts with most independent secondary sources, it's not really ok in policy, and plenty of people have put idiosyncratic spellings on their social media, but I think it's probably right that we should use it. // Hippo43 (talk) 12:33, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
