Ethical comparison to Wikipedia

[edit]

Couple of things - the site seems to be hugely popular amongst Indian users, which might be worth mentioning.

The second is: a criticism section is sorely needed.

Essentially the site requires user info for access, i.e. you need to be logged-in to access further answers after an initial visit.

This is in marked contrast to Wikipedia, and - given that Wikipedia preceded Quora by at least 9 years - is worth covering, as the founders were clearly aware of Wikipedia, but deliberately chose this trade-your-details-for-access method. Why does a private knowledge base need you to “sign in” to get answers to questions? Hmmm?

[edit]

It’s interesting to me that a “private knowledge site” would need a person to sign up and sign in to access it for knowledge. Why? 199.15.106.178 (talk) 20:45, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
