Unique

[edit]

I'm curious as to why user:OMPIRE removed the word "unique" with the "not unique" (no further comment) in his edit, regarding this version. I have never come across any player that can even approach what is displayed in that screenshot. I would like to undo his edit, but I'd prefer if someone answered this question ... --Kelt65 (talk) 02:28, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can't speak for that editor but the problem I see is that it is unverifiable. First, it is unspecific about exactly what is unique. That exact layout may very well be unique, but the reader is led to believe that there is a lot more that is unique without specifying anything specific enough to verify. Second, even if a very specific feature was identified, there isn't a way to verify that no other software contains that feature. Unverifiable claims are commonplace in promotional material, but are not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. I'd also note that "unique" is an odd claim for software licensed under the GPL, which promotes copying and the creation of derived works. --LiberatorG (talk) 10:05, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
