Mining only?
[edit]In The King's Fifth this term is applied for those sent officially to buy (via bartering) or take lost gold from dethroned Native Americans, not (at least just) for those hiring mining workers. So is it not accurate in the book or in here? -Lwc4life 12:05, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
"The King's Fifth" had previously been applied by Portuguese monarchs, namely with slaves and other goods from Africa; Henry the Navigator, as an example, had rights over one fifth of all slaves brought to Portugal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.164.0.63 (talk) 13:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
