Linux Planet

[edit]

I'm trying to verify the publisher for the website/magazine/whatever named Linux Planet. I know it's address is hosted by internet.com, but that just appears to be the hosting site. I bring it up on this talk page because someone has set up a redirect to here; yet there is no mention of it in the article and I'm not finding mention on the Quinstreet web site. If anyone has info (and source) either way, this can help both my query and this article. If Quinstreet does publish Linux Planet, it should be added to this article, if not, the redirect should be fixed. IMHO (talk) 19:41, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Concur. Anyways, I did a little digging on the page history of internet.com (to go to the page, add ?redirect=no to the page address): The first redirect took to Jupitermedia Corporation; successive redirects were to Jupitermedia, WebMediaBrands, and finally Quinstreet/QuinStreet, where the comment for the redirect said that QuinStreet did indeed buy internet.com and the WebMediaBrands article confirms it. I was looking for publisher information on a Hardware Central article, which prominently displays internet.com as the main site. The masthead at the bottom does clearly state that internet.com is owned by QuinStreet Inc. -Mardus (talk) 04:06, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Update: It appeared that the QuinStreet article already had the relevant information about Internet.com, I just separated this and a few other purchases for better legibility and added citation tags to some items. -Mardus (talk) 05:00, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Update:Just looked at this LinuxPlanet is owned by Quinstreet and was acquired in the Internet.com deal, so for clarity sake/ and those that get redirected, added in the name LinuxPlanet to the list of acquired sites. Dambock (talk) 02:55, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Where Is The Criticism?

[edit]

The background section reads like a prospectus.50.74.242.118 (talk) 14:27, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The investigation section is very obviously not objective and does not provide any referenced facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.157.43.50 (talk) 14:13, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've added some references and corrections. Captain Conundrum (talk) 09:28, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page Updates

[edit]

Hi there - I’m an employee of QuinStreet hoping to update a few facts on this page. I’ve read the COI policy and would appreciate the help of an independent editor in reviewing these changes. Thanks!

1. Please update the following lines of the infobox to reflect the most recently available information. These are just very basic facts about revenue and the yet main officers, so I think it’s acceptable to use a WP:Primary source here, a SEC government filing.

| key_people = Doug Valenti (CEO)
Nina Bhanap (president and CTO)[1]
Gregory Wong (CFO)[2]

| revenue = $580 million | revenue_year = 2023[3]

| num_employees = 937 (2023)[4]

2. Please update the first sentence of the Lead to more accurately and precisely reflect the scope of the company’s business. “Marketing technology” is creating software (the business of QuinStreet) whereas “marketing” could mean anything from making television commercials to running events. I also suggested removing "publicly traded” from the first sentence, since it makes more structural sense a bit further down in the Lead - I included the date of their going public in item #4.

Here it is now:

QuinStreet, Inc. is a publicly traded marketing company based in Foster City, California.

Please change it to:

QuinStreet, Inc. is a marketing technology company[5] based in Foster City, California.[6]

3. In the Lead, please add as the new second sentence information that very briefly describes the company’s services.

It provides services to vertical markets including financial services[7] and home services.[8]

4. In the Lead, please add as the new third sentence information about the date of the company’s founding and when it went public, a major milestone.

The company was founded in 1999[9] QuinStreet was publicly listed in 2010[10] on NASDAQ.[11]

Thanks for looking over these proposed changes.AndreaBlue1030449 (talk) 15:57, 28 December 2024 (UTC) AndreaBlue1030449 (talk) 15:57, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I do not see any strong reason for point 2 to be adopted.
Also, I do not see any reason for Wikipedia to provide a list of services that a company provides (i.e. point 3).
Points 1 & 4 look okay to me. Axad12 (talk) 11:22, 2 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
