NPOV

[edit]

This article does appear to be overly negative as it currently stands. I don't have time to fix it right this instant, but I do want to call attention to the POV issues here. Aspening (talk) 19:00, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It focuses too much on criticisms without mentioning its accomplishments (expansion in Australia, rise in valuation), which are cited in reputable publications such as FT and Forbes. - Darwin Naz (talk) 23:17, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How's the accomplishment of the expansion in Australia going? - Mark Walker — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.224.27.82 (talk) 13:32, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I’ll do some extensive editing today as the page has become quite outdated and seems to be missing some key information. RockingSummer (talk) 10:24, 21 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Helping with this page

[edit]

Hi, I am new here on Wikipedia and hope to help with this page. As part of the Purplebricks marketing team, I have been looking at the page and there is a lot of information that does not seem like it is encyclopedic, is not accurate or is no longer true. I would like to make some requests for the page and work with editors here who are familiar with Wikipedia's rules to make sure that any updates are neutral and appropriate. Please let me know if you would like to help or if you have any suggestions! Thanks, Purplebricks RT (talk) 15:43, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First Request

[edit]

Hi again. As I start making some requests here, I wanted to begin with something that is hopefully simple and easy. Is it possible to:

  1. Remove Canada and Germany from the first sentence? Purplebricks is no longer operating in Canada following the sale of the Canadian business and we don't technically operate in Germany, we have invested in another company there.
  2. Add "Locations served" to the "infobox" table and enter this as the United Kingdom?
  3. Include the most recent financials in the "infobox" table? From our 2020 Annual Report, these are:
    1. Revenue: £111.1m (2020)
    2. Operating income: -£9.4m (2020)[1]
    3. The Net income can actually be removed, as this isn't something that UK companies report. The closest would be EBITDA but I see that's not an option for the table

Per my introduction above, I work for Purplebricks and have a conflict of interest, so I'm asking for editors to review and make these edits. Thanks, Purplebricks RT (talk) 15:29, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Second Request: History

[edit]

Hi again. For my next request, I wanted to address the History content on the page. The table format doesn't seem like it's used very often for companies and I realised that there is a lot of information that seems relatively unimportant in the company's history.

My suggestions for the section are to:

  1. Remove the table and put the section back into regular prose with section headings.
  2. Remove facts that don't seem important enough to include, such as the details about Joby Russel
  3. Include relevant information from the International Operations section, since the company no longer actually has international operations and this would fit better within History
  4. Move the Controversy details into the History too so that all related material is together

I've put a draft of what I have in mind in my user space. I would paste it here, but it is quite long and thought editors might prefer to review where it's easier to edit. In the draft:

  • The details about the founding and development of the company are mainly rewritten or new, so editors may want to review those parts more closely.
  • I've kept the controversy details almost exactly as they are on the current page, but I've placed them within the overall timeline. Because of my conflict of interest, I didn't think it was appropriate to try to rewrite anything about controversy.
  • I also kept some of the same wording for details about the international operations, but trimmed it down where that seemed appropriate.

Would someone be willing to review the draft and use it to replace the current History, International operations and Controversy?

Per my posts above, I work for Purplebricks and have a conflict of interest, so I'm asking for editors to review and add the draft if they approve. Thanks, Purplebricks RT (talk) 14:35, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Cwmhiraeth, thanks again for your help above. Would you be able to help on this request, too? If not, I absolutely understand and it would be great if you can suggest anywhere else I could ask. Thanks, Purplebricks RT (talk) 10:53, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I thought your draft was fair and reasonable, well-sourced, neutral and free from copyvios, and have copied it into the article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again for your help. I'm glad my draft was neutral and appropriate to add to the page. I am working on another section, which I'll be back with soon. In the meantime, thanks so much! Purplebricks RT (talk) 08:06, 16 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Third Request: Business Model

[edit]

Hi again. Following my request above, I wanted to make a next request to ask about adding a Business model section. The page did originally have a section for the business model. It looks like this was removed by User:Cwmhiraeth when adding my History draft, so I'm not sure if that was intended. In any case, the section was missing information about how Purplebricks works and didn't explain the model of working with local agents at all.

My suggestions for the section are to:

  1. Remove the subheadings that were used before, and instead just have one section for business model and a subsection about marketing and promotion
  2. Remove the facts about the Internet of Things, as that is not a big part of the company's business
  3. Explain the difference between Purplebricks and traditional estate agencies in more detail
  4. Add details about how local agents are involved
  5. Add a subsection to talk briefly about the marketing of Purplebricks and its brand recognition, since the company has received good press coverage of this

Similar to the History, I've put a draft in my user space to make it a little easier for editors to review.

Would someone be willing to review the draft and add it to the page?

Per the posts I've made before, I work for Purplebricks and have a conflict of interest, so I'm asking for other editors to review and add the draft if they approve. Thanks, Purplebricks RT (talk) 10:31, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Cwmhiraeth, I'm sorry to bother you again. Would you be able to help reviewing this request? As I mentioned on my last request, I understand if not, and if that's the case it would be brilliant if you have any suggestions about other editors or places I could ask instead. Thanks, RT at Purplebricks (talk) 09:43, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RT at Purplebricks: Having checked the new content against our policies, I have made the edit requested above. I had to alter some reference names (for Lewis and Lemen-Hogarth), to prevent duplication, so please check that I have got these right. Although the edits I have made for you seem uncontroversial to me, I will leave another editor to action any further requests you may make. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:57, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for all of your help. I completely understand about wanting others to review any further requests here, you've been so helpful this far but I know it is a lot to ask and it would be good to have others review, too. Thank you again, RT at Purplebricks (talk) 15:01, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fourth Request: Operations and photo

[edit]

Hi again. As my last large request for this page, I want to ask about adding an Operations section to provide a summary about the company's organization and financials.

My suggestions for the section are to:

  1. Include a brief explanation about the location of the company, past international operations and current investment in the German company Homeday
  2. Note the company's listing on the London Stock Exchange and recent financials
  3. Note the top executives and their roles

I've put a draft in my user space so that editors can review there and easily edit if needed.

Would anyone be able to review the draft and add it to the page?

As well, I have uploaded a photo of one of Purplebricks' property signs to Wikimedia Commons. I thought this might make a good addition in the Operations or Business model section: File:Purplebricks Property Sign 2021.jpg

Per the posts I've made above, I work for Purplebricks and have a conflict of interest, so I'm asking for other editors to review and add this photo and draft if they approve. Thanks, RT at Purplebricks (talk) 14:36, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

RT at Purplebricks, I've updated the requested edits partially. Some of those are already mentioned. Such as "brief explanation about the location of the company, past international operations and current investment in the German company Homeday, Name of the CEO & Non-Executive Officer" Already mentioned. So, I've added the image, name of the current CFO & revenue information. Mommmyy (talk) 17:10, 18 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:RockingSummer, I notice that you edited this page last year and had worked on some details relating to the company's operations. Would you be able to help on this request? Thanks, RT at Purplebricks (talk) 15:24, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Aspening and User:Darwin Naz, hope you don't mind that I'm tagging you, as you'd both commented on this Talk page a few years ago and are among the few active editors that have been involved with the page. It's been about a month since I made this request and it looks like the request queue is even longer now. I'm wondering if either of you would be able to help? Thanks, RT at Purplebricks (talk) 10:22, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
