Oxycontin vs. OxyContin
Think it would be useful to be consistent ... which capitalization form should be used in this article from start to finish? --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 03:14, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
Passage removed
I removed the following passage from the "Oxycontin-related lawsuits" section as this is something you really don't want to include without a citation. I agree that it SHOULD be included but ONLY with supporting reliable sources.
- The company has since fabricated research to make Oxycontin appear less addictive than it really is.[citation needed]
Your comments on appropriateness would be welcome. Thanks. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 03:09, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
- Here is a source to back that claim: https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/jppbxk/how-big-pharma-hooked-america-on-legal-heroin
- "All the while, representatives for the company proclaimed that "delayed absorption as provided by OxyContin Tablets is believed to reduce the abuse liability of the drug." The "believed" statement was reinforced by sales officials, who were found to have fabricated phony scientific charts and to have suppressed certain findings about the drugs addictive effects. Three top executives, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of being liable for misleading regulators, the public and doctors about the risk of addiction, were fined a combined total of $35 million." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.10.233.45 (talk) 14:07, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
Purdue Pharma has no relation with Perdue Farms or Perdue Chicken, nor any relationship to Frank Perdue or his heirs.
There is no relationship whatsoever between Perdue Pharma and Perdue Farms (makers of Perdue Chicken). Nor is there any relationship with Frank Perdue or any of his family. This needs to be made clear on the main page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nedhorn (talk • contribs) 19:31, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- The farming company has a differently spelled name; is not mentioned in this article, and is in a different state.. The only way anyone looking for the farming company is going to end up here is if they misspell both "Perdue" (as "Purdue") and "farm" (as the unlikely "pharma") at the same time. It does not seem likely. Meters (talk) 20:27, 29 May 2018 (UTC)
- I agree. For the same reason, I have removed the related comment about Purdue University and John Purdue from the article text as well. -- Ed (Edgar181) 18:41, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
