P. Aelius Martialis is a significant historical character in that he represented a distinct political class within the Roman army known as the Illyricani91.125.131.97 (talk) 14:05, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- That might be true. However, Martialis was the equivalent of the modern senior NCO of a unit -- a sergeant major of a battalion or larger. And senior NCOs are not inherently notable. (Unlike, arguably, generals.) -- llywrch (talk) 19:47, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
