I'm not expert BUT: this article seems to confuse diastasis of the pubic symphysis with pelvic girdle pain. Quote from this wiki page: "A diastasis of the symphysis pubis is a symptom of pelvic girdle pain(PGP)." They aren't the same thing (are they??). Pain in the pelvic bones in late pregnancy is fairly common, a result of a softening up of the connective whatever between the bones. Can result in instability. Strong pelvic floor muscles keep the pelvic stable and moving properly even though the bones aren't fused solid.
