- ... that American advocates for the decriminalization of psilocybin (Psilocybe semilanceata pictured) have cited ongoing research on its use in treating depression and nicotine dependence?
- ALT1:... that since 2019, three U.S. cities have decriminalized psilocybin (Psilocybe semilanceata pictured), a natural psychedelic drug?

- Article was created within 7 days of nominating. QPQ has been completed. No pings on Earwigs. Hooks are cited in article, short enough for DYK, and interesting. Morgan695 (talk) 19:42, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Are you fine with the picture? Nice4What (talk · contribs) – (Thanks ♥) 19:46, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- I think it's fine, though it's generally at the discretion of whoever promotes the nomination whether to include an image. Morgan695 (talk) 21:24, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Diagram Colors
[edit]The diagram uses the same color for "Legal for Medical Use and Decriminalized" and "Decriminalized". I am concerned that this is confusing to colorblind users, not to mention just sorta bad UX. Can this diagram be changed to use a different color between those two? 2601:601:1301:7A30:EC2B:D66E:1A1B:582A (talk) 07:36, 9 December 2021 (UTC)

Update and Improve Ongoing Efforts from Scott Wiener's Bill
[edit]The section addressing California Senator Scott Wiener's psilocybin decriminalization bill is slightly outdated and missing some new information regarding its status since its last edit. The bill advanced through the Assembly Health Committee however, Wiener withdrew the bill before it went to the Assembly Appropriations Committee since he couldn't gather enough votes for the Assembly floor vote and shelved it until the next legislative session in 2022.Ericdedioscastellano (talk) 22:41, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Quoteming Michael Pollan
[edit]Someone seems to have quotemined Michael Pollan so as to make it seem as if he was opposed to legalisation.
I just listened to a one hour conversation between him and Sam Harris.
He clearly speaks out in favour of legalisation plus regulation. He literally says: When you have prohibition, you can't have regulation, everything is free for all. Only with legalisation can you have proper regulation.
In the article he says
No one should ever be arrested or go to jail for the possession or cultivation of any kind of mushroom — it would be disingenuous for me to say otherwise, since I have possessed, used and grown psilocybin myself. Like many others, I was inspired to do so by the recent renaissance of research into psychedelics, including psilocybin.
He also says
In some ways, psilocybin is a remarkably safe drug — there is no known lethal dose (something that can’t be said for many medicines sold without a prescription) and it is nonaddictive.
Finally:
I look forward to the day when psychedelic medicines like psilocybin, having proven their safety and efficacy in F.D.A.-approved trials, will take their legal place in society, not only in mental health care but in the lives of people dealing with garden-variety unhappiness or interested in spiritual exploration and personal growth. My worry is that ballot initiatives may not be the smartest way to get there. We still have a lot to learn about the immense power and potential risk of these molecules, not to mention the consequences of unrestricted use.
So he is not at all against legalisation. He is apparently against legalisation via ballot initiatives, but he shares the end goal of those who run those initiatives. --Johannes Rohr (talk) 13:38, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
