Notability: Enzyme-catalyzed proximity labeling has been used in a multitude of studies for determining biomolecular species in vivo near a protein of interest. Recently, a significant number of reliable secondary sources have reported on the utility of proximity labeling, including academic reviews and web articles alike--see citations on draft page.

Standalonability: Proximity labeling has been briefly outlined in the Alice Y. Ting, stress granule, and p-bodies articles. An article on proximity labeling will centralize descriptions in these articles as well as discuss details of proximity labeling as a specific method applicable in contexts other than studying stress granule proteomics or as a method developed by Alice Y. Ting.
