New Band

[edit]

There is a Christian oriented rock band called providence that has been together since 2004 can we gather information about them?

There is also a progressive rock band called PROVIDENCE [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxGkJhuZ8W19wEhzNkkeWvg from Winnipeg, Canada since 1992 or so. PROVIDENCE is Bob Ellis, Ben Rusch, and Basil Ganglia. They have an album called The Demon Haunted World, released in 2019.

why...

[edit]

does providence no longer automatically redirect to the Providence, RI page with a link to the disambiguation page? 72.195.136.189 (talk) 17:54, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second this question. I thought it was established that Providence, RI was the primary usage? This is supported by Google and Article Traffic Statistics. Regardless, there should have been discussion about any move. Cheers, Raime 21:26, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It was me (I). IMO, when "providence" is used in the language, I feel there is sufficient ambiguity to warrant a dab.--Loodog (talk) 21:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But as long as a majority readers are looking for one article (which appears to be the case here, given the traffic statistics and prominence of the RI city), then a redirect with a dablink is more appropriate. Cheers, Raime 21:54, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I believe there is a majority, but not overwhelming enough of one.--Loodog (talk) 22:57, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have to say I disagree. I think even the old TV show Providence is more referenced in current vernacular than divine providence. 72.195.136.189 (talk) 11:41, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If no one has any objections, I'd like to redirect this back to Providence, Rhode Island. I never hear Providence in reference to anything else, and the RI Providence is by far the largest city with the name. CaptPicard (talk) 21:30, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The move request is here: Talk:Providence, Rhode Island#Proposed move to Providence. --Una Smith (talk) 19:17, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
More useful discussion to ask that this link be redirect to Providence and current stuff here be moved to a dab.--Louiedog (talk) 20:46, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The move request has been closed, with result no move. --Una Smith (talk) 19:36, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Providence Friars

[edit]

I have again added Providence Friars to the dab page. I added the link because while disambiguating incoming links I found that about 10% of links to Providence intended Providence Friars (or its spinoff Providence Friars men's basketball). --Una Smith (talk) 22:16, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress

[edit]

There is a move discussion in progress on Talk:Providence (TV series) which affects this page. Please participate on that page and not in this talk page section. Thank you. —RMCD bot 15:46, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
