mess

This article is a mess -- prosume is most commonly used now for commons based peer production -- e.g. the use of digital manufacturing technologies to replicate products for personal consumption designed by peers (initially for their own consumption). I dont even know where to beign in fixing this. -- Weldymom (talk) 13:34, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

I agree - this article is a real mishmash of ideas. I think it needs focus on the concept itself (production by consumers) rather than specific implementations or tangential definitions. Without deleting large portions I would not know where to start. Pmasonj (talk) 11:30, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Start by deleting large portions. I don't have time right now, but the place to start is with WP:NOTDICT: a Wikipedia article must cover one topic. Other definitions of the same term must be covered in separate articles. So, this article needs to cover one and only one meaning of the term "prosumer". Everything else should be deleted, and then one can start cleaning up what is left.--Srleffler (talk) 11:23, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
This entire article is out of line with the commonly used definition of "prosumer". It isn't about PRODUCING and CONSUMING but rather about a CONSUMER who is interested in PROFESSIONAL level gear and tools. A simple good search will show that PROSUMER level gear/tools are those that lie between hobbyists and professionals. Ben Kickert (talk) 17:40, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
This is not the article on that topic. This is the article on Toffler's concept of producer/consumers. Wikipedia is not a dictionary. Each article covers one topic, not one word. Other topics that share the same name have to be covered in separate articles. It's not clear that we actually need an encyclopedia article on prosumer level gear. Wiktionary has an entry on it, though: prosumer.--Srleffler (talk) 16:17, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
