wildlife section
[edit]I have (again) removed the section on wildlife for the reason that is an unsourced broad overview of wildlife in Alaska, not specifically related to this article. There are many, many other articles covering the wildlife and culture of Alaska, there is no need to summarize in each individual article. I also reverted the "references" that were recently added, as they were not proper references to third party sources nor internal links. WP:REF has more information on how to properly format references. Beeblebrox (talk) 05:34, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Where is the climate data sourced from?
[edit]I can't find it anywhere. Going back to the 2009 version gives climate data that is much too warm to actually be Prospect Creek. I've seen data in a hardcover book once, but as far as I know, that station only ran for a few years in the 1970s during the Pipeline project. At the time I removed it, it was linked to both weather.com and weatherbase.com, but both links simply went to the main page of the site and didn't link to any data. Again, the data itself is exrrremely suspect ... how could it be so much warmer than every place nearby? —Soap— 14:20, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
- Having looked at it a bit more I'm sure it's a fake. It was present in the article since the creation of the article, but somewhere along the line someone added a -80F reading to make it look more legitimate. It must have been copied from another Alaskan city, probably something further south. I have seen the real data and it is much colder than what was here, but the records only ran for a few years. I am not sure if that data is even available online. —Soap— 14:30, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh hey, it's me. I dont remember writing this comment at all. A big ♥thank you♥ to whomever switched it over from the corrupt source to the Desert Research Institute! I will expand more information if I find anything interesting in the details. —Soap— 21:53, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
Altitude
[edit]What is the correct value? In the infobox is 1,014 ft (309 m), in the text 643 ft (196 m).--Carnby (talk) 11:12, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
