Talk:Project lifecycle
Old message
[edit]For a counter example where life cycle methods actually work it may be appropriate to look for systems which actually use software components vs. a "general software market".
When the software is tied to the system lifecycle it becomes much easier to track and identify the costs associated with initial development phases, field maintenance, and incremental upgrades.
Perhaps the linux example should also point out that no one was paying for various activities or aspects of activities. Nobody really knows what the project cost to develop in terms of time, cash, opportunity cost, etc. or any other traditional method of comparison to alternatives. user:mirwin
