"Evil as excess

[edit]

I removed the following phrase:

It has been suggested that not all evil is due to a privation; malaria, for example, is due to not a lacking, but an excess (in this case, of disease).[6]

It was referred to a "Beginner's guide", which hardly can be accepted as a solid reference. In this way any type of evil may be explained: as an excess of a particular "carrier of evil". If cact, this is clearly a logical blunder: it is simply a regression ("sweeping under the carpet" of the issue): it does not explain how the "carrier of evil" have got the evil to carry. To explain it for a layman: the fridge may be described as a "carrier of cold", but it does not bring "cold" (although we may colloquially say so): in fact, it removes heat.
