Make a whole new page
[edit]I talked to my econ professor today and she suggested that an entire new page be made just for the United States of America up until about last year, since the bailouts have changed this in America. And then possibly other pages could created for different ways that it is conducted around the world. Lothp (talk) 02:57, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
In the UK, the charitable sector is not considered part of the private sector. Its often called the third sector (ie not public or private) and there is atrade magazine for charities called the third sector.Burdfield 22:09, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I know that they are different in different places around the world. This is why I suggested making a new page, but I thought I would post in discussion before going and just do it. Lothp (talk) 02:50, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Reliable?
[edit]Why is someone who cannot write an article based on basic standards of Wikipedia, contributing to such a critical page? Much important subject matter and clear examples were removed without valid cause. Look at the page history:Private sector for proof. Socalism has nothing to do with "Calypso music;" research the basic facts before making fundamental changes to critical articles.
THIS ARTICLE REPRESENTS A PROVINCIAL VIEWPOINT AND IS FAR FROM GLOBAL OR FAIR TO THE ENTIRE WORLD. NEEDS A REWRITE BY AN EXPERT
Please sign your comments. The point that Arthur Frayn was attempting to make is that your spelling is a bit hit-and-miss (made clear by the page history). The word you are looking for is Socialism, the word User Frayn was referring to is Soca, which is a type of Calypso. This article refers to a concept which does not need to be political - public and private (and even voluntary) sectors exist under all types of political regimes. The concept of a private sector is not in itself political. This is an encyclopaedia and not a forum for political debate or grand-standing, please keep your submissions factual and on topic and support all statements (particularly potentially contentious ones) with strong references.

Rewrite needed
[edit]This article is currently well below Wikipedia's normal standards for such an important subject, and probably needs a total rewrite from scratch. -- Arthur Frayn 08:45, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
How about something along the following lines? Lead
- Official definitions
- Criteria for inclusion on private sector
- Ownership
- Control/Decision making
- For Profit
- Other Criteria
- Two-Sector Definitions
- Three-Sector Definitions
This is really about what constitutes "private". It would be useful to see how the UN, the World Bank, and other international bodies defined the term for purposes of assembling statistics. DCDuring 16:01, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Pyat rublei 1997.jpg
[edit]Image:Pyat rublei 1997.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
