Ralph Melish
[edit]Changed the text:
"It also marks the first appearance of Hans Moleman, known in this episode as Ralph Melish. This name may have been a reference to the Monty Python sketch entitled "The adventures of Ralph Melish: Hot Dog and Knickers", in which a young man fatuously narrarates, in the style of a campy, noir fiction-imitating radio serial from 1940's or 50's, a morning in the life of Ralph Melish, a comically boring and ordinary file clark at middle age, until his wife forces him to stop. It then turns out that she is so concerned about her husband's constant preoccupation with very dull things that she is consulting a psychologist to address the issue. The psychologist absently rambles an explanation of the human brain which is as surreal and grotesque as it is inaccurate before ripping off the woman's undergarments and sexually assaulting her. Her husband feverishly narrates just as before."
It describes the sketch in too much detail. I was wondering if it should go in The Monty Python Matching Tie and Handkerchief's article, but I can't see any way of fitting it in without writing a whole lot more in the article. George C 17:13, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Significance in later episodes
[edit]I have removed about half of the trivia section as the points were neither relevant nor really even trivia. The rest of it, I integrated into a new section along with the First appearances section I had created earlier - Significance in later episodes. //George C 09:36, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Pop Culture Reference
[edit]There may be a reference to a Beatles' song. During the wedding ceremony, Stanley says, "Martha, my dear..." and later "Martha, my love...", both lyrics from the song "Martha My Dear" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.232.70.235 (talk) 02:57, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Sodium Tetrasulfate
[edit]Tetrasulfate could be another name for tetrathionate, or it could be a reference to S4O13-2, which would be a polymeric sulfate ion similar to pyrosulfate. Stonemason89 (talk) 16:21, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
