Royalty and aristocracy

[edit]

I changed the top sentence

  • A prince is a member of the highest aristocracy.

to

  • A prince is a member of royalty or the highest title of aristocracy.

in the interest of clarity. That was reverted with the comment "Not necessarily so". Since I find that comment irelevant and don't understand why this was reverted, I am reinstating my change, with even more clarity, and asking for an explanation here as to shy we should not be clear about what a prince normally is. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:07, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New revert. No talk. Edit summaryt "Not all Princes are royalty" which is exactly what I'm saying. Inconceivable. Have written to editor & asked that h/ use talk pages. --SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:19, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • A prince is a member of royalty or of the high aristocracy, would be better. I wouldn't describe it as a member one way and a title the other way. Prince is also not always the "highest" aristocracy. In some countries and contexts a Duke is higher. An aristocrat with a title that is perceived as lower, can actually be of a higher class in the nobility. A mediatized count for instance is higher than a titular Prince in some cases. Great - do it! --SergeWoodzing (talk) 00:31, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
