Itching to edit these again
[edit]So I really want to bring every Priestess-related article up to as high a standard as possible. My sandboxes at the moment are devoted to subject matters relating to the band, and I just brought-in a metric crap ton of stuff I was working on. Obviously it's far from complete, so any help would be greatly appreciated. To be clear, I am not involved with or connected to the band in any way, I am just an ardent fan. We need a citation for this
[edit][Mikey Heppner] later commented that the term sounds like something that would already have been used as a band name, but that an Internet search only turned up top results such as Metal Priestess, which was the name of an album by the Plasmatics. LazyBastardGuy 08:01, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
- I just know I've seen that somewhere... LazyBastardGuy 04:12, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
My inspiration
[edit]Since it's a featured article, I'm using Nirvana as the model to follow. Try to keep to that model and we'll see how this goes. LazyBastardGuy 03:45, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
The Fanzine
[edit]Based on its name, I have my concerns over whether this constitutes a reliable source. But until told otherwise I will use it anyway. LazyBastardGuy 03:52, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Hiatus
[edit]Mikey Heppner said through Facebook that the band have taken an indefinite hiatus. If/when this turns-up in reliable sources, I will add it. LazyBastardGuy 04:56, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Source publishers
[edit]I just realized I may want to include the names of each source's publisher. Maybe I'll get to that soon... LazyBastardGuy 09:23, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
Pictures
[edit]Man, this article could sure benefit a hell of a lot from pictures... Unfortunately I have none that would be suitable. Never been to a concert, never seen one of these guys in public. LazyBastardGuy 06:06, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Source for their hiatus
[edit]I have a feeling that if/when Priestess returns is when we'll finally get a reliable source saying they were ever on hiatus in the first place. I won't hold my breath, but I'll just wait and see what happens. LazyBastardGuy 17:12, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
RCA vs. Tee Pee
[edit]Much was made of the fact that RCA and Tee Pee are two different types of labels, first a major label than an indie one. That might have some place in the article. LazyBastardGuy 16:45, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
Singles
[edit]The band's two other singles are "Run Home" and "Lay Down" (the latter is even explicitly referenced in the article as such). However, I am unable to substantiate the order in which they were released; for that reason I have omitted them. I'm not sure which would be worse, Wikipedia lacking information or Wikipedia having incorrect information, but for now I'll choose the former. It's a way of saying, "At least what we DO have is correct." LazyBastardGuy 18:28, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Vince Nudo and the Violators
[edit]I took this out because even if it were true it would require that he joined the band because of Priestess' current inactivity. And also, the way it was written, it would look better on Vince Nudo's article... which he does not have at the moment because he does not yet warrant one. LazyBastardGuy 03:04, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]It needs a call out for the most popular songs, with reviews. And especially the inclusion to Guitar Hero. Flesh the discography. Find cites to talk about their influences. Since only Heppner (not any of the band members) has his own article, there needs to be a bit more detail in this article about what each member does (including Heppner)instruments played, influences, style, training. The overall tone of the narrative is a little too casual, including internal motivations and anecdotes. Sharpen that to more encyclopedic approach. Fill in some tour information. You could easily have a B article, or a Good Article. EBY (talk) 04:18, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Finally, some feedback! Reviews are a tricky thing to integrate into an article and I've only recently started doing so. The discography is a bit problematic considering some songs are cited as singles in some sources (of varying reliability) and not in others, and some are cited as "lead singles" (i.e. the first single to come from an LP) in some of those places and not in others. Actual release dates are never quite clear. Up until now I was worried more about integrating facts, that is, things that have been said about the band's history as having been true and painfully aware of the absence of any kind of critical reaction (which I've partially remedied in my last edit to the article as of this writing, which was of course after this talk post was made). It's too bad that a lot of really good info appears in sources that aren't WP:RS, we could really use some of that. And yes, the tone of the article has been a problem I've been working on, but it's not easy when I'm here alone. I try to avoid repetitive word usage but it's not easy, since there's only so many alternatives to certain words. I've tried to abbreviate the tour information as best I could because in the past it looked more like a tour resumé, which is not, in my view, a good way to write an encyclopedia article. But yes, thanks for taking the time to drop by and weigh in. I recently nominated their album article Prior to the Fire for GA status after all the hard work I put into it, and I'm hoping to bring all relevant articles to that grade. Hopefully I can do the same with this article sometime. LazyBastardGuy 13:55, 7 July 2013 (UTC)
