[edit]This definitely needs a bit of clean-up to at least meet the quality level of many preservation metadata-related pages available. That is, given the importance of preservation metadata to the topic of digital archiving, at the least this page should incorporate the issues brought in from other articles such as the the PREMIS and DublinCORE article. --Lyc. cooperi (talk) 11:36, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia Review for UMD Intro to Archives and Digital Preservation
[edit]The first sentence in the lead needs work. Rather than repeating the term preservation, it may be more appropriate to structure the first two sentences together. Citing preservation metadata as data and information which include technical and historical information about information objects which enable sustainability of documents. (or something of that ilk) Also, the lead could stand a little bit more of a build out.
The lists in the Preservation Metadata section seem a bit too vague, particularly in the terms provenance and in the list of metadata methods. Without prior knowledge to these metadata methods, they may be lost on a reader.
In the "Uses" paragraph, I would move the citation before the pronunciation of AIPs.
