Prakash Karat is known to love Communist China. It is quite likely that he may give India's nuclear arsenal to Communist China. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.88.88.153 (talk) 15:18, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's BUDDHADEB Bhatacharya who's the modernist. He's even referred to as the Dan Xiaopeng of Bengal! Buddhadeb Babu & Karat are arch rivals in the politburo. I will correct this NONSENSE as soon as I get refs.Shiva's Trident 13:38, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

'Positions'

[edit]

The 'Positions' chapter becomes a bot odd. Karat is the General Secretary of CPI(M). Is it notable that he espouses the views of his party? --Soman 14:41, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is anti-Zionism and Americaphobia part of the views of his party? He seems especially anti-Zionist and Americaphobic, more so than most Indian communists I know. Just thought it deserves mention. India Rising 15:06, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
'Seems'? --Soman 15:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK 'IS' :) India Rising 15:18, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The question then become: How do you assert this? is it your personal feeling when reading Indian newsmedia (i.e. OR)? --Soman 15:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No they are notable opinions. India Rising 17:03, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't really answer my question. How do you assert the notability of these opinions? Karat, the top leader of the 3rd largest party in India, makes commentaries to the press on a daily basis, on a variety of subjects. On what basis has the selection of 'positions' been done? is there any published source that would confirm your pov that there is any difference in emphasis on these issues between karat and his party? --Soman 18:35, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are many published sources. We could provide links to relevant news events depicting key statements made from time to time that supports the notations. The individual notations could be discussed for its importance. I suggest we could broadly classify on the basis of the party, its published views, and views expressed in speeches etc and landmark decisions

Karat's birthdate is wrong...

[edit]

He definitely was 56 years old in April 2005, which means he can't have been born in 1947.

Lets have 'Political views' section

[edit]

For all political leaders it will serve the world well if we put a list of 'views' that documents the person's statements, actions, opinions. This will help democracy After all, a politician's leanings are an integral part of him and it is therefore it is a legitimate part of his description. If anyone differs he/she is free to discuss.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 150.142.232.4 (talk) 21:43, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But the problem here is, in what way would that material be different from material that is/could be included at the CPI(M) article? --Soman (talk) 21:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
