Some Thoughts About this Article

[edit]

This article's content is relevant to the topic, covering the main definition of Praat and version history. It is written neutrally and have reliable references. The article does not tackle one of Wikipedia's equity gaps since it has limited contents and does not mention things that are underrepresented or misrepresented. I think to improve this article, we can discuss Praat’s role in analyzing underrepresented or endangered languages. Also, a clearer explanation of how it supports different languages and accents, especially in communities underrepresented in technology. Lastly, a section on criticisms or limitations of the software to keep the article balanced. AnnieChen2024 (talk) 02:50, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good thoughts @AnnieChen2024! I think it might also be useful to add in images showing examples of the spectrograms and other graphs that can be created. We might also want to develop a list of functionalities in Praat to provide more context for how the software can be used. Linguist891 (talk) 03:08, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For supporting how to use Praat specifically, I would cite Maryn and Youri's "Practical Acoustics in Clinical Voice Assessment: A Praat Primer". This article provides a practical guide on using Praat software for acoustic analysis in clinical voice assessments. It explains key features of Praat that can be utilized for diagnosing and evaluating voice disorders through detailed phonetic measurements and also some drawbacks of using Praat. We could make a new subheading called "How to Use Praat" to add on this information. AnnieChen2024 (talk) 03:43, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I completed the homework earlier because I thought we would need to do week 6 in week 5. AnnieChen2024 (talk) 01:46, 9 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
