Root-power is real-valued

@Dondervogel 2: you stated that "In general field quantities and root-power quantities are complex." [1] But I thought root-power are defined as the positive square-root of power quantities, both of which are real-valued. Isn't the deprecation of field quantity motivated by the fact that field may be complex (having a phase) while root-power (more akin to amplitude or magnitude) is not? I used to think that field quantities were complex and root-power quantities were real and positive. Having read the 2 cited standards, I have the impression the authors of Part 3 intended the field quantity to be complex, while the authors of Part 1 intended the term "root-power quantity" to replace "field quantity" without changing the meaning. In that interpretation both would be complex. I confess it's a while since I looked at this, though I recall a similar (unresolved) discussion at the talk page of level (logarithmic quantity).
