Which episodes of Postman Pat are better? The old ones or the new ones?

The older episodes

Both are equally good

Was Postman Pat set in Yorkshire or Cumbria?

Cumbria

Yes you do. Greendale was based on a Cumbrian village, but it's actually in Yorkshire. And the insertion of anything which I know not to be true constitutes vandalism.

Paul Goggins

There seems to be sum discussion as to the correctness of this statement. The government minister Paul Goggins revealed that his mother was the inspiration for the character of Mrs Goggins in 2004.

With some one claiming to be John Cunliffe. supporting it and a newspaper article below. [ This is not correct. I picked the name at random from the phone directory. Episodes to air in 2005?

The article states "Another set of 28 episodes has been commissioned, and will air in autumn 2005." Did this happen? --David Edgar 10:15, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Looking at the episode guide on tv.com [1], it seems it did, but in 2006. Changed to reflect this. 11:17, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

The Fring Family

Someone should remove that section about The Fring Family being characters in Postman Pat, as they don't exist. I've tried several times but some idiot keeps putting it back. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.93.21.134 (talk • contribs) .

Well, you've been removing other sections of the article too, and not using edit summaries. Google seems to agree (there are no results about 'Fring' and 'Postman Pat'), so I'll remove the section, unless anyone has evidence otherwise. --Fuzzie (talk) 11:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Gaelic

I've changed the wording of the section about the Gaelic version. It previously seemed to suggest that the programme was only shown in Gaelic in Scotland. This is not true. The vast majority of the time we get the English version and only sometimes is the programme broadcast in Gaelic. I'm not sure how often but I believe it is pretty seldom and usually as part of another Gaelic programme. This is why (as the previous version which i edited stated) the BBC Scotland website lists it as "Postman Pat" and not "Pàdraig Post". --Thetriangleguy 17:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Rude letters?

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that it had recently been discovered that some of the envelopes shown in Postman Pat actually had obscenities written on them, which could be read with the aid of freeze-frame. Has the ring of an urban myth, like the supposedly rude names on Captain Pugwash which were mentioned by lots of wry newspaper columnists for many years but turned out to be completely false (it wasn't even that difficult to check, all journalists had to do was watch an episode).

Mr Pottage

Mr Pottage appeared to exist in an old Postman Pat annual. I recall him being talked about but unsure whether he featured

Who is Jess the cat?

Hi everyone! I want to know who is acting Jess the Cat? She is known for going out with Pat her and she miaows too. Jess looks diffrent from the following times.

• 1981-1990 She is a fluffy, soft and has green eyes but she is silent (she dosn't miaow)
• 1991-2002 She lookes a bit better with her nose nearer to her eyes but she miaows like "Mio!"
• 2003- She is furry, has a mouth and is cute and she miaows in every episode.

So who acts Jess the cat from 1991-2002 and from 2003? Vandalism

Could do with a trim

I notice that an awful lot of this article appears to consist of lists that don't really serve any purpose other than pleasing fancrufters. For instance, I don't see the relevance of a list of vehicles unless the vehicles are key to the series, which, unless the series has changed significantly since I was a preschooler, is not the case. I'm also not entirely clear who would need a list of songs from the series - hardcore fans would already know them and nobody else would really care. I'm happy to make the changes myself, but not having seen the series in about twenty years, I'm not sure what's relevant and what isn't.HonestTom (talk) 09:57, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. The trouble is that nobody really seems to update the page - the vast majority of the edits have been vandalism, cruft, or reversion, so I doubt that any meaningful consensus can be reached. For what it's worth, I certainly support eliminating the vehicles and music sections, and restructuring the article to move the character list (or should this be split off?) closer to the bottom. Like you, my recent exposure to the series is minimal, so I've not done much except revert garbage and try to keep the prose decent. Majorclanger (talk) 23:48, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Characters

The list of Characters needs to be sorted out. I think the main characters of the programme should be listed with a bit about themselves. Any other names included is just fancruft IMO. No mention of Boro Pat

The article never mentions the Boro Pat parody series. Basically parts of some episodes re-dubbed to make characters telling adult jokes, cursing at each other, etc. They were posted on Youtube for a while. Ultimately there were like 20 episodes.
