Help request

[edit]

Hi there.

Having just bought a new contract and wanted to port my number over from an old contract, took me 45 mins on the telephone, would it be applicable to include instructions/method for each provider?

Many thanks

Neil

Orange Porting 17-5-2008

Orange charge you for 30 days from the moment when you request a pac code, so its worth requesting it 30 days before your contract is to end so you can move it on the day your contract ends, rather than having to pay for another 30 days. Also they dont tell you over the phone, taking about 5 working days via the post.

On the other hand, T Mobile give you the Pac code straight away, and terminate the contract upon transfer so that you will not be charged extra. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.78.127.117 (talk) 14:01, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

O2 Porting 25-01-2010 o2 also charge 30 days from the moment you request a pac code. Unlike the main article states o2 send the pac code via post and state a turn around of 5 working days for the customer to receive it. When the process failed twice for me they did issue the pac code over the phone.

Orange Accepting pac code 25-01-2010 pac codes are only activated on Wednesdays and during the Wednesday the customer should be expect split calls, i.e. going to either the temp or the transferred number, up until midnight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.56.67 (talk) 22:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Other carriers?

[edit]

Anyone got details for getting PAC (time and cost especially) from other carriers? Most conspicuously absent is Asda Mobile. Anyone got any info? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.189.65.216 (talk) 14:57, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Virgin mobile sending PAC by text message

[edit]

The virgin mobile section says they no longer send PACs by text message. However, i just phoned up and requested a PAC and received it by text message. So should i change the section? Sermoa (talk) 10:55, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Other countries?

[edit]

This article gives detailed info on UK and India. Does that mean that not all phone companies globally use PAC codes and allow you to port your number? I was confused about whether this is only on offer in those two countries 94.174.108.74 (talk) 15:09, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
