Toronto/Winnipeg on a Q400???
[edit]Can anyone provide information on whether Porter confirms they're looking to fly to Winnipeg? That doesn't make much sense. The Q400 speed/runway disadvantage disappears over 500 miles, and Winnipeg is 950 miles from TO. Even if they were looking to just go to Winnipeg from Thunder Bay, is there enough business? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Greg Salter (talk • contribs) 20:05:02, August 19, 2007 (UTC).
Regional Airline of Canada or Ontario
[edit]The last edit changed Porter from being a regional airline of Canada to being a Regional Airline of Ontario. I think we should use the "Canada" group or add Porter to the regional group for "Quebec" and "Nova Scotia". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by M@sk (talk • contribs) 21:36:14, August 19, 2007 (UTC).
I made the change because Porter is based in Ontario, as I based it on other regional airlines' categories. It isn't (yet) national like the other carriers. Interestingly, Jazz is a "regional airline" that operates nationally. Greg Salter 03:57, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:PorterAirlinesLogo.JPG
[edit]Image:PorterAirlinesLogo.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge proposal
[edit]The list of Porter Airlines destinations is not long. It is better served by merging into the main article. It is a simple content fork and does not need a separate article. Alaney2k (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Categories
[edit]I am uncertain how the regional airline categories are setup. Should Porter not be in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland? They do have some routes they fly that start and end at cities outside of Ontario. --M@sk (talk) 22:53, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
- The category would be on where they are based, not where they fly to and from. Canterbury Tail talk 00:29, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Destinations edit war
[edit]The edit warring about Porter's destinations -- part of this article or an article on their own -- is tiresome and must stop, now. No one should change that part of the article. If you do, you face a block for disruption. Bring your discussion here if the AfD doesn't solve things. -- Flyguy649 talk 21:51, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I refer you to Wikipedia:3rr#Application_of_3RR. -- Flyguy649 talk 22:01, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- There is an AfD in place at the moment. Until that is resolved nothing should be changing. Canterbury Tail talk 22:03, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, exactly. I haven't protected the article as I'm sure people can refrain from editing that section for a few days. -- Flyguy649 talk 22:09, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm trying to state that there is no need for duplicate information when there is a page, as I stated, we keep the destinations on the destination page until a decision is made. Zaps93 (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Assume Good Faith please. I put the destinations table into the article so we could evaluate both alternatives. !!! ʘ alaney2k • talkʘ 15:56, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if you felt I was being abusive, but in these situations we don't duplicate any information until the decision is made on the 10th February 2010. Zaps93 (talk) 16:07, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
No big deal. You just over-reacted a bit. As edit wars go, this is not much of one. I've not seen any abusive language or anything. I don't know of any precedent why we have to leave the section like that. Of course, we can just see previous revisions to compare. ʘ alaney2k • talkʘ 16:18, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Seat configuration
[edit]I've noticed that there has been a back and forth on the seating configuration. Can we not agree on "single-class". The Porter planes are 72 seat configurations to be lighter. Lighter means shorter runways, which is necessary for the island airport. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 15:43, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
- Porter is 70 seats. Just wanted to add that! :) user:POE-YTZ 02:18, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm under impression that the routes that Porter serves do not necessarily call for more seats, and, to a degree, they positioned themselves as a "premium" airline (which is understandable if you claim to fly directly from Downtown Toronto). Plus, I think Q400 is perfectly capable of carrying more passengers, and, courtesy of turboprops, Porter is very, very profitable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.239.66.165 (talk) 22:07, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Air Canada Jazz eviction
[edit]I am very much under impression that nobody was actually flying from YTZ in 2003-2006, not as far as I remember it.
Can we double check whether Air Canada Jazz was actually using the airport or was a property rights hog, because, as far as I remember, Toronto Port Authority actually quite welcomed Porter since they badly needed additional revenue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.239.66.165 (talk) 22:04, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
