Popup Canopy is a Canopy that Pops up on its own with not much outside force.
[edit]Verb 1. pop up - appear suddenly or unexpectedly; "The farm popped into view as we turned the corner"; "He suddenly popped up out of nowhere. A popup canopy is like popup tent that unfolds on its own with not much outside force. If you have to unfold the canopy by hand then it is considered a fold up canopy not a pop up. Example pop up tent. Constructed of spring steel when pulled to set up it pops to shape by itself, thus the word popup. Example: a folding table has to be unfolded manually and does not unfold itself or it wold be called a popup table. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TODD PERRY68.204.16.119 (talk) 13:23, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit]There are still no independent references but I have restored the link to KD Kanopy because I think it is useful information. I think this link was removed because it was construed as advertising but I have edited the Wikipedia article to make it less like an advertisement. Biscuittin (talk) 22:57, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
The first pop up canopy was invented by Jim Lynch in 1983 and was made with chrome plated steel legs and nut and bolt fittings. Jim went on to start KD Kanopy in 1984, owning over 38 patents on the pop up style canopy, Jim decided to produce only a heavy duty commercial grade canopy and licensed out some of the patents to other companies to make a retail unit. KD Kanopy also invented the single pole tension units and introduced the revolutionary StarShade canopies to the market. Check the link from above for more information, it is quite informative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.122.118.62 (talk) 21:30, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
