this is stupid this article should be linked back to the holden commodore page they're the same car just ones in lhd and the other in rhd they do it for all the other gm brands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.229.45.253 (talk) 03:44, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I've had enough. People keep changing the external links, back and forth between different blog sites and forum sites. It's generally a bad idea to include *any* such sites, as per WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided. So, instead of changing the external links in the article over and over, please discuss your link proposals here. Until we can decide on any new links that do *not* fall under the category of "links normally to be avoided", I will be removing all blog and forum external links from the article, pure and simple. --Vossanova o< 15:27, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

--I'd like to include this link. http://g8gt.com/t106/#post185
It's a list of all specifications that have been currently released from GM that I've put in an outline format. Sorry if I've formatted this incorrectly, I'm new to Wikipedia. --Get Shorty 04:55, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

The information is good, although I'm a little concerned about the source. Where did you get the info from? If you can list source(s), I'd say go ahead and add it, as the official Pontiac page probably doesn't have all these specs readily available yet. --Vossanova o< 14:23, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
I've cited my source in the thread. The information is from GM's media website, so it's far from easy to find. I'm adding it to the external links section. Forgive me if it should be in a different area, and feel free to move it if needed. Get Shorty 19:39, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Should the link to Autoblog be allowed? There is a significant amount of advertisements on that page. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/introducing-the-pontiac-g8/ I can provide the exact same content with zero advertisements... http://g8gt.com/t23/ or http://g8gt.com/t22/ Get Shorty 08:14, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

It should probably get removed - "Links to sites with objectionable amounts of advertising." is #5 on the "Links normally to be avoided" list. --Vossanova o< 15:01, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
Removed. I'll gladly add a link to a high resolution photo gallery if you think it's needed. Get Shorty 20:29, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Reverted, again... Get Shorty 07:15, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I undid the reversion by Quadratic. Linking to that media release is a bad idea, since specifications will most likely change and that information will become outdated. GM will not update that page, since it's a press release, not a current list of specifications. Until official specs come out on Pontiac's website, I see no reason to change it. GXP

Should information about the rumored GXP be included on this page? Get Shorty 00:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Depends on how many reliable sources you have. If there's just fan forum discussion, forget it, WP:NOT a crystal ball. --Vossanova o< 15:09, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Rumored 0-60mp/h times/0-100km/h times

The times 0-60mp/h in under 5 seconds is not correct. The Holden Special Vehicles E Series (Tuned version of the VE) has a Chevy LS2 V8 which goes 0-60mp/h in 4.96 seconds, and that has 307kW/420HP(?) of power, compared to 270kW/360HP that of the Holden Commodore SS/Ponitac G8 (V8 version). I concur. Get Shorty 15:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
It does seem suspect but what about gearing? We should probably drop those numbers until after there's a source confirming them. Ayocee 18:25, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Predecessor?

The info box was changed to show the Grand Prix as the predecessor, but the time line at the bottom shows the Bonneville. I think it could be argued either way. But, whatever it is, the two places should be consistent. Ultimate ed (talk) 18:57, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Since the G8 is considered a full size car and the Grand Prix a mid size car, they have to go on different lines on the timeline. Sharing the same line as the Bonneville is simply the best fit. Maybe we should just put both Grand Prix and Bonneville as predecessors; the G8 isn't connected with one any more than the other. --Vossanova o< 19:38, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
I would have to say the GTO is a partial predecessor as well. From 2004-2006 Pontiac produced an 8 cylinder RWD vehicle in the GTO, and the G8 is sporting the same credentials- WITH the dual hood scoops, I might add. It is also reviving the full size sedan, so where exactly does the Grand Prix fit in as a predecessor? 207.250.61.96 (talk) 19:21, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

The G8 is the first rear-wheel drive Pontiac sedan sold in North America since the 1986?

The article makes the above claim but what about the Pontiac GTO sold from 2004-2006? Eventhough it's two doors I think the GTO was still considered a sedan. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 03:09, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

The majority of automotive publications refer to any two-door hardtop, regardless of whether it has one row of seats or two, as a coupe - I don't think anyone was trying to pass off the GTO as a sedan. Ayocee (talk) 05:37, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
That said, since Wikipedia does acknowledge the fact that some do consider two-door, two-row cars to be sedans, I've got no problem with the clarification :) Ayocee (talk) 05:38, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Which all countries is it available in?

Can someone write a detailed list of the countries it is available in? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.115.18 (talk) 00:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Are you asking about the G8 specifically or its variants as well? --Holderca1 talk 20:20, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

it also depends on what variants you count coz its available as a large sedan aswell, in australia where its from the commodore then the statesman and caprice are all pretty much the same and this is where its from, the statesman or caprice are available in china as a buick park avenue and the commodore for a while now has been available as a chevrolet in the middle east aswell as in korea as a daewoo —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.229.45.253 (talk) 03:46, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Test drive

I drove the G8 GT today and although I did generally like the car I didn't like the awkward a-la-Saturn window controls and the part-power/part-manual seat controls. Waiting for the G8 GXP to come out.--Tomtom9041 (talk) 02:20, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
