Deleted Walthamstow, this isn't that close to Ponders End. At least not as near as the other Nearest Places Rogwan 14:09, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of secondary schools.

[edit]

The following schools have been removed for the following reasons.

Salisbury School : Is located in Edmonton, as the Edmonton / Ponders end boundary has to be crossed, and the post code is N9, not EN3.

The Grammar School Enfield : Is situated in the center of Enfield Town. Postcode EN2.

Enfield County School (Lower) : Again situated near the center of Enfield Town. Postcode En2.

Albany School : Is situated between Brimsdown and Enfield Wash, not Ponders End.

Brimsdown School : The name says it all.

Suffolks Primary School : Situated between Brimsdown/Enfield Wash. Postcode EN1.

Carterhatch Primary School : Situated on carterhatch lane, Brimsdown Postcode EN1.

Durant's School : Situated in Brimsdown. PortalCore 11:56, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

EN2 post code removed.

[edit]

The EN2 postcode was removed due to the fact that EN2 is in west enfield and is separated from EN3 by the EN1 postcode. PortalCore 11:56, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Place name

[edit]

I've found some information relating to the naming of the area here: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=26949 and it says it could have been after a John Ponder but I can't find anything else to verify this. Any clues? Rogwan 17:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ryans Park

[edit]

Hi. Where is Ryans Park? Can't find it on map, possibly new park?Northmetpit (talk) 15:04, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Since a child, I thought the Ponders end recreation ground was Ryans park, but all maps I've seen including one from LB Enfield web site refer to the open space as a recreation ground [1]. I'll investigate the signposts on the front of the park.--PortalCore (talk) 10:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PortalCore thanks for reply .Northmetpit (talk) 10:40, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Northmetpit, I've asked around, and the Ponders End recreational ground IS known as Ryans Park, but I'm unable to find a sign or a map with the name on (not recent maps anyway). I'll try to look for more info. PortalCore (talk) 11:33, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that PortalCore Bye Northmetpit (talk) 11:39, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Angel Road railway station.

[edit]

Angel Road railway station has been omitted as it lays at the edges of Edmonton and Upper Edmonton, and to get to it, you would have to travel through Edmonton from Ponders End. Edmonton Green station is geographically closer to Ponders End.

I understand the reason why it was included, as it's the next station on the train line to Ponders End, but there are closer stations, and the page is about Ponders End, not the train line that serves it. But it may be a good idea to link to the information relating to the rail service that serves it.

Hi PortalCore. Sorry can't see the need to omit Angel Road. Cheers Northmetpit (talk) 10:38, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
