Assertions in article

[edit]

There are several statements in this article that do not make sense. Cocoate usually refers to salts or esters of coconut oil, which may contain lauric acid, so I don't think it's appropriate to say propylene glycol cocoate is "produced from lauric acid." Also, based on the name Propylene glycol cocoate, it shouldn't contain any polyethylene glycol, and PEG-8 certainly wouldn't be a synonym for it. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:12, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. Not being a chemist myself, I am unable to comment on the derivation of this substance, however I have located and appended a couple of references to the article to support its content. I hope these assuage your concerns somewhat? I notice we also have a decent-looking article for propylene glycol, which may be of use in categorising this article.
