Merger proposal

[edit]

Hi, I'm planning to merge this page with Polaroid transfer as I think Polaroid transfer does not have enough notability to be its own article when it could be covered in this one. I also plan to rewrite this article to include more information and make it more verifiable. GoodCrossing (talk) 23:05, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I didn't get to you in time on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help. Yes, the Polaroid transfer article is, albeit of ancient origin (2005), completely terrible and you should proceed with your plan to merge it. It largely reads like a how-to manual, something Wikipedia is NOT, so don't attempt to retain that aspect of it. If you can supply some references, that would be double-plus good. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:09, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'm looking at the instructions on WP:MERGE to make sure I do it correctly but I'll work on the merged article first. Since it is pretty much a complete rewrite, and I haven't done such a big edit before, what can I do to have it reviewed before merging? GoodCrossing (talk) 23:07, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jmcgnh:I've finished writing the draft and I think it can be published and merged, however since it's the first time I write an article pretty much from scratch I'd like to make sure it has sufficient quality. Please let me know what you think. The draft is at User:GoodCrossing/Draft of Polaroid art. Thanks. GoodCrossing (talk) 00:56, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've decided to be bold and merge the articles. Let me know if there are any issues with my rewritten articles. GoodCrossing (talk) 21:25, 12 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Yes, the merge seems to be technically okay. The references still leave much to be desired, but the current article is considerably better than what was there before, so it counts as improvement. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:01, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into improving the references although I found it hard to find some from reliable sources as these techniques are mainly done by hobbyists and as such mare mostly found in blogs and the like. For the procedures on doing these, I've linked to some videos produced by Polaroid back in the day, which I think is a good source. GoodCrossing (talk) 19:14, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

SX-70 Manipulation has incorrect information

[edit]

Hello, the section that describes only being able to manipulate SX-70 Time Zero Polaroid film while it is developing is incorrect. This can be done with modern I-Type and 600 film by Polaroid B.V. Here is a video I found of someone doing such on I-Type film. The only difference with the I-Type and 600 film is the integrated battery in the 600 film. I am unsure if the current SX-70 film is capable of doing manipulations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stmsqGdjY5U 2600:6C67:527F:E91F:7C28:341F:3A79:874D (talk) 02:42, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know that was possible... I just shot a test picture and I can confirm it seems to work on new SX-70 film. However, I'm not sure if there are any sources that we could use in order to add it to the article. I think that your wording ('...yields the best results with...') is a good way to put it.
