Polar bond vs. polar molecule
[edit]This very brief article contains information that can be misleading. Polar bonds between atoms do not necessarily make a molecule polar; for instance, CF4 has strongly polar bonds but is not a polar molecule. Suggestion: Remove this implication, and leave it to the linked pages to spell out the details. Arjenvreugd (talk) 17:41, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- I have fixed this now, and added a brief comparison of polar H2O with nonpolar CO2 (a simpler example than CF4). Dirac66 (talk) 21:20, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
Merge with "Chemical polarity"
[edit]Shouldn't this article be merged into Chemical polarity? That article already explains everything that has been discussed here, so if nobody objects, let us simply turn this into a redirect to it···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 17:29, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree. However the example of CO2 in this article should be included in the merged article before the discussion of BF3 (now in Chemical polarity]], since CO2 is simpler. Dirac66 (talk) 21:30, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Done. Forbes72 (talk) 21:15, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
