Misnomer

[edit]

The binomial nomenclature box for P. metallica actually reads Poecilotheria crassipes. I'm changing it to the actual binomial nomenclature with metallica. -EarthRise33 05:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

critically endangered species kept as a pet

[edit]

Is it wise to have so much detail about 'Poecilotheria metallica' as a household pet? including price, life expectancy and even temperature and humidity range for capitivity. I feel that this only encourages more people to buy this tarrantula illegally and further it's possible extinction, i've read about 50 pages of other critically extinct species this morning and not one of them went into such detail about keeping a critically endangered species as a household pet.

You should take a look at the page for Chinchilla then. Hopefully tarantula keepers are buying specimen from responsible dealers who captive-breed rather than catch from the wild.
