A big THANK YOU...
[edit]... to the fellas that removed all those photos I've uploaded. It feels just like a huge slap in the face. I spent hours of my life taking, editing and uploading those photos, so thanks again! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.155.21.20 (talk) 21:43, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
Can you give the link to those photos? Rave92(talk) 16:05, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Please keep map
[edit]Nije bitno, I have reverted your last edit (in which you removed the map). Native English-speakers are unfamiliar with the Balkans and I believe that the map is indispensible.
Perhaps you were upset that your Millennium bridge photo was moved down the page. This was done to place it next to the paragraph that describes the bridge.
In any case, I believe there's room for the map and all the photos in the article. Thanks. Madman 19:57, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Map kept!
[edit]I edited the "montenegro infobox" template so it can host a map with the city location. I also created a CIA Factbook - style maps with clearly indicated city locations for those cities which I have edited.
I put the "Old ribnica bridge" picture on top, and "Millenium bridge" picture on the bottom of "History" section, as it symbolizes the change og Podgorica throughout the history.
I also think that that "Areas of Podgorica" should be removed, as that is no relevant information for a city of some 150 000 citizens, and will not help anyone to learn anything about Podgorica.
Nije bitno... 21:21, 2 April 2006
Pronunciation
[edit]How is the name of this place pronounced? Is it simply said as it is spelt? --Ukdan999 01:47, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
Pronounced something like "poad-go-ree-tsa" Nije bitno... 14:07, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Montenegrin language
[edit]- Please stop removing city's name in Montenegrin language, as over 25% residents of Podgorica, and over 22% of Montenegrins speaks it.
- Because the constitution of Montenegro states that the official language is Serbian, and because VAST majority of population of Montenegro speak Serbian (cca 62%), it is then correct to say that the language is Serbian and NOT Montenegrin.
Moreover, "Montenegrin" language is under dispute according to recognized lingustists and many consider is to be a political invention.
Therefore, stop changing the name of language to "Montenegrin"
- C'mon people, we all know very well what would be "mother tongue" results if a census would be held today. There's simply no need to stick the ethnopolitical divisions into every single article; either use "Serbian/Montenegrin" or just "Cyrillic". Duja► 09:53, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Casino Royale
[edit]Any actual Casinos in Podgorica? --81.105.251.160 18:19, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, a few. There were once four big casinos in Podgorica, but today only the one in Hotel Crna Gora is operational. There are also dozens of small "casinos", but they mosly feature an electric roulette and slot machines, not any card games played. There is much more exciting gambling scene on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro...casino at Maestral hotel is internationally famous. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nije bitno... Not a capital
[edit]See Article 7 of the Constitution. Cetinje is the capital, P. - administrative centre. 217.198.224.13 21:05, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
thats not true , cetinje is old royal capital , today it is podgorica , as it is administrative center and a hometown to parlament , govrement etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmmy spong (talk • contribs) 12:31, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Millennium bridge
[edit]Koje je izvorno ime? Most Milenijum ili Milenijumski most? --BokicaK 06:32, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Nije bitno, našao sam. --BokicaK 07:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Podgorica - more photos needed
[edit]Hi, if you could please put more photos of Podgorica, so the presentation of this Montenegrin city can be more extensive. One photo is worth a thousand words. Take a look at Sarajevo as an example of how things should be done. Bosniak 04:49, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Collage?
[edit]Here we can discuss about the collage idea that was brought by user Reenem. Here is the collage that he wants to use on Podgorica article:
http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Beautiful_Podgorica,_Montenegro.jpg
To me, images used in the collage are not so good, as they look to simple. If you compare it with Singapore, Belgrade etc...
We have one image that qualifies, and that is the current picture used in Podgorica article. We need more professional pictures, as on the pics used on collage are not "putted" properly, at least that's my opinion.
We need picture of Montenegrin national theatre, better pic of Sahat Kula, statue of King Nicholas, statue on Moscow bridge, King Nichola palace
We can use the biggest picture used currently on collage, showing the Promonte building. Rave92(talk) 16:24, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
I sort of agree with Rave92. However, I still think that the Collage is best left as it is, and at 250px, it has OK quality. We should at least use it until a better image is found. However, I would go with his original idea too, as it illustrates the general cityscape.--RM (Be my friend) 16:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Alright, as it seems to be what this is leaning for, I'm inserting the biggest picture currently on the collage.--RM (Be my friend) 16:45, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
We shouldn't use Blok 5 image in collage... We need this one:
MNE national theatre, St. Peter statue, statue of Puskin , statue from Moscow bridge, Sahat kula, Roman square/State square and the picture used till now showing two main bridges.
Now, we don't need to use all of these, but we need good quality pictures to make a collage. We can find it on net, but it is very hard to get permission for it. Rave92(talk) 21:12, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

why are photos for which i have personal permission deleted ? and those that belong to public domain... I give link and no one wants to look at it , just deletes photos. This article cant advance or get improved , when someone constantly reverts edits. Complete article , bot text ,photos and lack of references is a discgrace and shame. When i get bloody personal permission to use photo then what is your idea when you choose to delete it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.155.9.123 (talk) 00:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
edits
[edit]im editing page today to fit pictures under according sections , and to aestetically sort the page. it will take some time , let my edits make no confusion , i will also add some more informaton and perhaps change the main pic. for example there were 3 photos under transportation section which had only few lines ,so 3 photos were too much and made mess and interfered with neighbouring sections. also removed international relatons section since all information was already available in info box — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmmy spong (talk • contribs) 00:48, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

twin cities
[edit]removed stockholm belgrade and zagreb from twin cities. absolutely no evidence of these cities being sister cities with Podgorica. I think someone just randomly bumped them — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.155.52.243 (talk) 13:43, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Religion
[edit]I guess there's a problem with religion in this city, according to this article: Islam 16,275 8,75% Muslims 4,608 2,48% --> ????????? This doesn't make any sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.112.146.236 (talk) 00:02, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
added the famous unoffical motto of the city dating back to the 90's. it originates from a famous grafitti in the inner part of the town. since then it's been widely accepted by the public, describing youth trends in the city — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.33.223.115 (talk) 18:29, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
Demographics - Muslims by nationality
[edit]Some idiot removed the Muslims from the demographics list.
- Whether you think that Muslims are a nation or not is completetely irrelevant. On the 2011 Cenus everybody had the raight to declare themselves as whatever they pleased. And if several thousand people said that their nationality is Muslim you have to respect that. So stop sabotaging the article.
'The Ottoman capture of Podgorica in 1474 interrupted its economic, cultural and artistic development.'
[edit]Did it really? I find that surprising considering that the arrival of the Ottomans in most Balkan cities tended to bring economic and physical expansion (imperial funding and the benefit of a huge Ottoman market to trade in, better security, all that jazz). Would be nice to see a citation if this is really the case. 159.20.88.54 (talk) 19:51, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Demographics
[edit]Somebody removed nationality and religion graphic table and cut out most of this article. Please revert it to a previous state. There was nothing wrong with it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.222.10.255 (talk) 10:13, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Diocletian
[edit]The article currently talks about the >> the Roman-era town of Doclea, from which the Roman Emperor Diocletian hailed << but cites no source for this claim about his roots. The Wikipedia article on Diocletian gives Salona as the place of the emperor's birth (and nearby Split as the place to which he retired). Now, Salona is more than 250 km distant from Doclea (modern Duklja) and whilst it is true that Diocletian made Doclea the capital of his new province of Praevalitana – which could indeed account for the later hyper-correction of Doclea to Dioclea – I believe the assertion that the emperor "hailed from" Doclea is wrong, and I therefore propose removing it. -- Picapica (talk) 13:03, 20 July 2018 (UTC)
