Activities

[edit]

Pleasure can be brought about in different ways, depending on how every individual senses the feeling of pleasure. Due to the fact that there are different forms of pleasure, there are different activities that trigger a feeling of pleasure. And in as much as this is true, each activity causes pleasure by different means - some neurological, and some psychological (though the two are closely related).

People commonly feel this phenomenon through exercise, sexuality, usage of drugs, and other physical activities due to certain endorphins being released into the brain. A therapeutic massage may also cause a feeling of pleasure, due to the release of built-up muscular tension. While these are common examples of stimulated pleasure, their reasons for producing the feeling of pleasure may not be completely neurological.

Music, writing, accomplishment, recognition, service, and any other imaginable activity may cause a feeling of pleasure linked largely to the psychological reasoning of the mind. Even pain, a feeling normally linked with displeasure, has been known to trigger a feeling of pleasure.

It has also been known that an activity which has been previously linked by the subconscious can trigger an emotional response where the mind re-lives the remembered feeling of pleasure. In this case, "enjoyment" can be related to certain physical, sensual, emotional or mental experiences, even if the experiences themselves provide no pleasure.
