Name change?
[edit]From "Coral Cup" to "Cazoo Cup" or "Cazoo Series"?[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:BB6:1AE4:D658:E1B0:92D8:8887:2A33 (talk) 08:48, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
- It would be "Cazoo Series", but I'm not sure it meets WP:COMMONNAME. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:37, 15 February 2021 (UTC)
Sources and verifiability
[edit]I have just reverted for the second time additions some additions of John Higgins. Possibly he belongs in the tables, but, based on the refences cited on the page, maybe he doesn't. Like all pages here, this article needs reliable sources which have been cited on the page. The "solution" suggested in an edit summary that, "you can just click on the tournament at hand" is inadequate for our policy of verifiability and not how we do things on Wikipedia. The "Winners" table even has a separate column for references. So if somebody wants to add some information, they should just add where they got it at the same time. Thanks, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 11:43, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- I mean, sure, but removing the information isn't particularly suitable either, a much better response would have been a [citation needed] tag. To that end, I've added a refs column to the finals section, as it is much more of a place that requires a citation. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:48, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, Lee (and Mrloop). I'm not trying to remove anything (or maybe I should say, I'm trying not to remove anything), I'm just reverting the addition of unsourced content. Per WP:V as I said, but on the assumption that someone adding a "fact" at this very moment must still know where they're getting it, they're still "here" (and didn't last edit Wikipedia in 2014), and can (and, I hope, will) re-add their info complete with some citation (at least a bare URL). I think WP is in bad shape when we just let anybody add anything at anytime. I probably seem cranky but I'm hoping to keep some of our poorly-sourced articles from getting worse. I hope the CN-hints help a little. Regards, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 13:15, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- No, you are right, we should totally be citing this sort of stuff. This isn't one of our better snooker articles, I'll maybe spend some time making it a bit shiny when I get a few minutes. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:21, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
