Tita and Nichol

Hm, I haven't seen that picture in the anime nor manga version. Of course, it's fan service, not canonical. Satoshi draws hentai of most everything he's related himself to. If not hentai, then plane ol' nudity. Kind of like with his characters from Growlanser (I may not be spelling that correctly).--NWalterstorf 22:58, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Just one?

Too expensive, as I recall. Urushihara's known for drawing almost all of the keyframes himself, and that plus the generally high production values and lack of a sequel hook meant there wasn't much call to expand it into a series. Urushihara's rather costly mode of working is also why Front Innocent was canned after one episode. Herr Gruber (talk) 12:46, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Yuri Anime?

I considered not bothering since this is an old anime and I doubt the page sees many hits. Wikipedia is considered such an absolute source for some people, though, that I brough out my copies of the movie and manga and made some changes.

I considered removing the "yuri" tag. This anime is often misclassed as yuri when it's actually just very heavy on female fan service. The main character, Tita, is a very friendly girl but, as I added to the article, never actually says which character she has romantic feelings for. When arguing that the movie is yuri, the usual scenes brought up as these:

1. Tita accidentally gropes Elysse: She's more concerned with how her own bustline doesn't measure up than any sexual interesst in Elysse's body.

2. They bath together: But in the manga, Mei and Tita are also shown bathing together. In Japan, members of the same sex will bath together without it being a sexual thing.

3. They slept together in the same bed: Like the bath, Tita's partial nudity isn't sexual.Elysse is curled up in fetal position and Tita has put her arm around her to comfort her. At this point in the movie, it's only been a few hours since she was rescued from the men who shot her father in front of her. It's less romantic snuggling and more a frightened orphan.

4. The chat at breakfast: I changed the article to reflect that Elysse, not Tita, says "I think I like you, Tita." This is where an argument for Elysse's homosexuality could be made. Is it a confession of love or does she mean in a friendship way, since she has just told Tita that she admires her outlook on life. Tita doesn't get to reply one way or another because of the attack but as they are escaping, Elysse tells her "Tita, you're the first friend I've ever had." This points to Elysse being a very lonely, isolated girl. There is a possibility she's in love, but it's not strange that after losing the only family she was shown to have, she'd bond with a friendly girl her age who's willing to risk her life to protect her.

As the article mentions, Elysse doesn't play a huge role in the manga. If I were less timid about Wiki editing, I'd probably remove the mention about Tita being topless on the video phone with her (Issue 5). Like the bath and the night in the same bed, the nudity isn't sexual. Tita is much more concerned with Nichol seeing her naked than Elysse.

If the scene in the movie with Elysse at breakfast is a love confession, then the scene in the manga where Tita agrees to be Nichol's navigator for his race (Issue 4) is an accepted marriage proposal, heehee. A few pages later, he kisses her on the cheek, which she accepts with a blush. When she walks in on him dressing (Issue 3, Intermission), she peeks through her fingers. When he walks in on her in Issue 5, she's embarassed but lets him stay while she dresses (turned around), saying that if he was anyone else she would kick him out. Like Elysse, she never comes out and states interesst but he's definitely held in higher regard than Roger.

Hrimfaxi mentioned the hentai that Urushihara drew years later. There are currently 5 pictures, one with Tita and Elysse, one with Tita and Nichol and three with Mei and Balboa. Of the 5, the one with Tita and Elysse is the only one in the series that has nudity rather than actual sex. It's difficult to know if this shows that it was his intent that Nichol and Tita be a couple or just his whims at the time that he drew them. Excuse my wordiness. This is not a Yuri. There is nothing that makes Plastic Little explicitly Yuri so it should have the Yuri tag removed. It's all just small fan theories that you guys are taking to serious. - SuperTiencha (talk) 19:13, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

As I recall, the UK magazine Anime FX featured an interview with Urushihara which included the subject of Tita and Elise / Elysse / however it's translated today. He was pretty clear on the idea that the situations aren't supposed to be sexual (and when Urushihara intends a situation to be sexual, you can tell) and that Tita's just a physically affectionate person who isn't bothered by nudity; if anything, they're supposed to be like sisters. Who shot Whom?

The article mentions that Joshua L Balboa is a cover identity for a person named Andy Furlong... some lines later it says "Balboa shot Andy"... that does not make any sense... if he shot his partner, the name of that one was earlier given as Jeff Griess...? So should it read "in the end Balboa shot Jeff." or what happens in the manga version?
