Ballistic tip bullet → Plastic tipped bullets — The name Ballistic Tip is a registered trademark of Nosler, Inc. and no other manufacturer is allowed to use it. Plastic tipped bullets is a generic term covering several lines and manufacturers. Imfecklar (talk) 21:52, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Support, seems reasonable. (btw, I copied Imfecklar's request over from his talk page). --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 15:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Support, certainly we should use the generic name. Yworo (talk) 19:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- How much among gun enthusiasts has "ballistic tip" slid into becoming a generic (see genericized tradename)? Anthony Appleyard (talk) 09:39, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
- I would like to add a link to an article in RifleShooter magazine where they list the best big game bullets all by name, listing the Ballistic Tip as a seperate entity and calling every bullet by their trademarked name. They refer to other bullets with a plastic tip as having a polymer nose. RifleShooter ArticleImfecklar (talk) 15:43, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
