Brinker International

It seems like Brinker is actually headquartered in Dallas, not Plano. Can somebody verify this? 70.112.76.36 05:19, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

According to their website, Brinker is located in Dallas.

Nastia Liukin lives in Plano?

Liukin is listed among notable residents. But doesn't she live in Parker? If so, her name probably ought to be removed. Dunkelweizen (talk) 15:08, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Nastia Liukin lives in Parker which is a suburb of Plano. Parker is technically not a city but a section of Plano —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.48.57.70 (talk) 01:24, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

There is a city called Parker, Texas, most notably known for the Southfork Ranch and being able to drive through it without knowing you are in the city. Heyyouoverthere (talk) 13:55, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Park list?

Should there be a list of historical parks in Plano, because I came here looking for information about Haggard Park, and nothing about any parks here.76.185.146.49 (talk) 02:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Inappropriate Section - Possibly remove?

The subsection regarding steroids and the suicide of student "Taylor Hooten" which resides under the section Media attention over suicide and heroin use among Plano students should be removed. This subsection does not pertain to the parent section, which discusses suicide related to heroin, and was an isolated incident which the father decided to add to this site. In fact, after searching for a while on the internet, I couldn't find any credible sources which propose a causative link between suicides in Plano at the time and steroid use. Possibly this section could be relocated to a new Wikipedia article on steroids and suicide, or possibly added to the steroid wiki page as a single mention of this incident. Another possibility: the section could be its own page, since the event lead to a large conference on the matter (of which the father was able to fund himself, which in and of itself became somewhat controversial, from what I've read in other articles). If I do not hear any arguments against this, I will remove the section by the end of the month. If I do see arguments, then we will have further discussion. Picture

Any chance there's something we can replace the water tower with? As lovely as it looks, I'm not sure that the tower is a great graphical representation of the city. :) Mpgviolist (talk) 19:59, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

What would you recommend? Historic downtown isn't really representative of the city, and there is no central skyline. The Haggard Park photo is nice, but is greenspace what you're looking for? 78.26 (talk) 20:32, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
What KnightxxArrow changed it to looks great (Thanks for doing that!). The Haggard park would have been fine; I was just thinking that there wasn't much point in having the water tower there; there are nearly identical water towers in many other places. Of course, you could say that about parks/buildings, but it's to a much lesser extent. Mpgviolist (talk) 02:45, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Agreed, kudos to KnightxxArrow. 78.26 (talk) 12:57, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Structure

Hi. I'm going through all the US Cities (as per List of United States cities by population) in an effort to provide some uniformity in structure. Anyone have an issue with me restructuring this article as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. I won't be changing any content, merely the order. Occasionally, I will also move a picture just to clean up spacing issues. I've already gone through the top 20 or so on the above list, if you'd like to see how they turned out. Thoughts? Chinese is an important language for this subject

Notice to English-speaking Wikipedians:

If you write an article about something in Plano, see if you can find Chinese friends to write an equivalent Chinese article on the Chinese Wikipedia. Spanish and Chinese are the most important foreign languages in this subject, but I noted Chinese because many Texans may not know this about Plano. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:53, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

History

Confused why I can't mention that Plano was settled on land that belonged to the Comanches? Is this point disputed by anyone? Many sources point to the history of colonization in north Texas. Any thoughts? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jgkaplan (talkcontribs) 19:27, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Jgkaplan - there were two issues. First and foremost, the citation you included did not support the edit you made. It simply pointed to a page at the Annenberg site, which didn't mention Plano, or Indians. It was also a raw link. You can take a look at WP:CIT to see how to format citations. Second, the differing cultures between Indians and Europeans was not really reflected in the way you worded your edit, which gave your edit a slightly WP:NPOV feel to it. A more neutral way might have been to add a brief paragraph regarding pre-European settlement. And, btw, thanks for asking the question, I hope I've helped. Feel free to ask if you have more questions, or need help, either here or on my talk page. Onel5969 (talk) 19:36, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Polyphia

The members of Polyphia are from Plano, but they're not listed in the "notable people" section. They are fairly popular and ought to be listed.

Orphaned references in Plano, Texas

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Plano, Texas's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
