A draft? thank goodness
[edit]I can't even begin to point out all the speculations in this draft. GoodDay (talk) 16:38, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- wait a couple of weeks, they'll mostly come true...Arglebargle79 (talk) 21:24, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if it comes true. It's a prediction right now, and is therefore not encyclopedic. You're coming very close to a topic ban IMO. ― Tartan357 (Talk) 21:41, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
This stuff:
Should a crisis last more than a few days, it is possible that no one will have been declared the victor prior to January 20, and in that case, the Speaker of the House would become acting president, they would be inaugurated. There may be several inaugurations and up to five different people possibly taking the oath of office. These include:
*Trump/Pence and Biden/Harris taking their oaths at different places simultaneously. *Acting President Pence taking the oath *Acting President Harris taking the oath.
*Acting President Pelosi taking the oath.
is not cited anywhere, least of all in the citation that follows it. Seems like original research.--2601:640:4000:3170:14E9:606E:4DB7:D40F (talk) 17:19, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- I know, crazy ain't it. GoodDay (talk) 21:43, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- It's NOT original research. It's mentioned in all those books and articles I've cited....and besides, the only person to ever take down that stuff was @Tartan357, who is not "many editors." He's still angry that that ugly picture is not the standard one for Biden...Arglebargle79 (talk) 10:39, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- If those four scenarios are not original research, then please put the source you got them from at the end of that information. Also don't forget that this will only be an article after Biden has been elected (in the situation where he wins), so the article should only include information that is relevant in that case. 2601:640:4000:3170:A9E7:5FD4:D2A1:D66A (talk) 20:25, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

- The 1947 Presidential Succession Act has never been invoked & there's been arguments over how it would be implemented. Would Pelosi be sworn in as acting president? if she resigned as speaker in order to do so, wouldn't that remove her from the succession, etc etc? GoodDay (talk) 15:24, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- If Biden puts his transition website up, we should purt this on the mainspace. Arglebargle79 (talk) 11:46, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- Don't move this to mainspace until and unless we show a Biden win at 2020 United States presidential election, in accordance with the discussion on sourcing requirements on that talk page. Any sooner and the very title of this page is a premature call of the election. ST47 (talk) 14:45, 31 October 2020 (UTC)

- I was going to start a Planned presidential transition of Joe Biden article. Similar to the Planned presidential transition of Donald Trump page that was created on May 7, 2016 before it was renamed after he won. And similar to Planned presidential transition of Hillary Clinton that was created on July 31, 2016 before she lost and that page was redirected. And similar to the Planned presidential transition of Mitt Romney article that has remained. Seeing the similar content here (especially 188.182.13.127's attempts to clean up the draft), I'm tempted to arrange to publish this draft under the Planned presidential transition of Joe Biden title if it were not for these OR complaints here regarding the previous edits in the page history. Because if I start the Planned presidential transition of Joe Biden now separately in the mainspace, it would be more likely that page would be moved to the Planned presidential transition of Joe Biden spot should Biden win and this draft would be overlooked/ignored. Zzyzx11 (talk) 23:42, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- I have no problem whatsoever with changing the title to that. I think I will do so now...Arglebargle79 (talk) 13:56, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Zzyzx11:: I just changed it. BTW. There's a group of people who make OR complaints about me wherever I go, I"m obnoxious and disliked, which is a bummer. Arglebargle79 (talk) 14:03, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
It'll be mid-December (electoral college) before we find out who's won. Arizona, Pennsylvania, Georgia & North Carolina are taking forever it seems, to count their votes. GoodDay (talk) 15:02, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Consider that multiple RS state Biden has won the election (it's on the enWP main page, in fact, which has very strict standards) I have accepted the article. If anyone wants to rename it asPresidential transition..... I have no objctions, but i'm not going to get involved in that. Anyone who objects to what I've done , there's AfD, but I expect a snow keep. DGG ( talk ) 18:47, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
There's a bit of a problem with the naming
[edit]It has to do with the draft and the two articles. So I"m putting copies of the talk page from the other article so people aren't that confused. Good luck with the editing!!!!Arglebargle79 (talk) 19:33, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign page redirect
[edit]I have noticed that the "Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign" redirects here. This shouldn't be the case. For example, the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign page does not redirect to the Presidential transition of Donald Trump page. DanJWilde (talk) 18:36, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- This has since been changed. DanJWilde (talk) 18:55, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
The Draft wasn't that bad
[edit]I moved everything from the draft article. I was invited to. Feel free to pick it apart as much as you want, and if it winds up looking nothing like I conceived it, Great! The flailing of the outgoing administration is going to be a major part of the transition and the nightmare scenarios were a major part of the campaign.
For all those who think this is horrible, improve it. That's what the edit feature is there for. Arglebargle79 (talk) 19:12, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
The Title
[edit]How do we change it? The word "planned' shouldn't really be there. it was put there because I thought that it would be disputed. It may be, but nobody will take it seriously. Arglebargle79 (talk) 19:24, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- Arglebargle79, Its there because there were two articles, one of which duplicated this one improperly, so I redirected Presidential transition of Joe Biden to here. If there is consensus that it should be at the title without planned, I can put it back, but because it is technically difficult I will hold off until several folks have chimed in at least. In fact, I'd prefer a WP:RM. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 19:36, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- I would second the fact that "planned" should not be in the title. He's won the election and is not planning the transition...he's transitioning.--Esprit15d • talk • contribs 19:43, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- Biden is the President-Elect of the United States. He's not planning to transition, he is transitioning to the presidency. It really should be removed asap. cookie monster (2020) 755 21:33, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

Talks to change article name to Presidential transition of Joe Biden
[edit]How do we update the title? It's already made clear that Trump has lost to Biden and Biden is currently the president-elect for 46th US president. So, it only makes sense to update this article to reflect the transition to Joe Biden's presidency that's currently ongoing. Billwang370 (talk) 22:27, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- This article has been redirected to Presidential transition of Joe Biden, as it should have been from the beginning. KidAd talk 23:00, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
