Retrospective awards

[edit]

I have removed the statement about her being retrospective French Champion Three-Year-Old Filly. There's enough of this stuff with US thoroughbreds without it spreading here. I know that the editor who wrote this did tons of brilliant work, but he did include a lot of anachronisms. In any case it seems a case of "damning with faint praise"; Plaisanterie was the best three-year-old of either sex in Europe in 1885, and probably the best horse full stop. If they had been giving out Cartier Racing Awards in 1885 she would have won a couple, but they weren't, so she didn't. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 06:59, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
