Excessive self-adulation and undisclosed COI-editing

[edit]

I have trimmed some of the worst parts and reverted a large chunk of undisclosed promotional COI-editing from December 2018, but more work is needed to change this article into something resembling an uninvolved encyclopedic presentation of its topic. There are still too many PR quotations and similar puffery without substantial encyclopedic information in the article.

COI-editors are welcome to suggest sourced, factual changes in a neutral tone here on the article talkpage (see message and convenience link on top). GermanJoe (talk) 05:09, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking help to update this page and removing the maintenance message

[edit]

Good day, I am an employee of DBS Bank, hoping to clean up this page for my CEO and hopefully remove the maintenance message at the top of his Wiki.

I have some proposed edits below, which I have attempted to write in a neutral manner while providing sources and references. Also propose removing entirely the "DBS Strategy and Advocacy" section if it helps with making the page sound less like an advertisement. Would greatly appreciate any guidance and help if any editors find any issues with the proposed edits.

Piyush Gupta (born January 24, 1960) is a Singaporean business executive. He is the current Chief Executive Officer[1] of DBS Group[2], Southeast Asia’s largest bank[3], and Vice-Chairman (Banking)[4] of the Institute of International Finance[5]. Gupta is also a member of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Task Force on Digital Financing of the Sustainable Development Goals[6]. In 2019, he was named one of the world’s top 100 best-performing chief executives[7] in Harvard Business Review[8]’s 2019 edition of “The CEO 100”. == Early life and education

==

Gupta was born in India to Dr. R.S. Gupta and Minnie Gupta. He attended St. Columba’s High School before going on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. After graduating, he enrolled at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad for his Post-Graduate Diploma in Management.[9]

Professional Career

[edit]

=== Career at Citigroup

===

In 1982, Gupta joined Citibank India at the age of 22 as a Management Trainee[10]. He did several assignments with Citibank India, eventually becoming Chief of Staff to the India head. Gupta moved to Singapore in 1991, as Chief of Staff to the Asia Head. He later held other positions such as Head of Strategic Planning for Emerging Markets and Regional Director for Global Transaction Services for Asia Pacific, before being posted to Indonesia to be Citi’s country manager in 1998[11]. In 2000, Gupta left Citigroup to start an internet venture called go4i.com. However, when the dot-com bubble burst, the company folded and Gupta re-joined Citigroup in 2001.[12] Gupta was Citigroup’s country officer in Malaysia from 2002-2007. He later assumed the role of country officer in Singapore and the head of the Corporate and Investment Bank in ASEAN. In 2008, Gupta was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Citibank in South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. === Career at DBS Group

===

Gupta became Chief Executive Officer of DBS Group on November 9, 2009[13]. His appointment came after a near-five month search to replace the bank’s former CEO Richard Stanley, who had died from leukaemia earlier that year[14]. Since his tenure, the bank has been named by Euromoney magazine[15] as the world’s best digital bank twice, in 2016 and 2018[16], and also became the first Asian bank to be named the Best Bank in The Worl[17]d by Global Finance magazine[18]. == External Boards and Appointments

==

Apart from his role as Vice-Chairman of the Institute of International Finance, Gupta sits on the boards of Enterprise Singapore[19][20], Singapore’s National Research Foundation[21], and the Singapore’s Council for Board Diversity.[22] He is also part of the Singapore’s Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data[23], and the McKinsey Advisory Council. In May 2020, Gupta became part of Singapore’s Emerging Stronger Taskforce[24] to provide recommendations to the Future Economy Council on the post-Covid-19 economy[25].

Private life

[edit]

Gupta enjoys reading and bird watching[26]. He plays golf and badminton, and does crosswords. Gupta is an ambassador for CanKids India, a non-governmental organisation that supports victims of childhood cancer. His wife, Ruchira, is a physiotherapist, and is actively involved with ageing and geriatric care in Singapore. He has two children –Tanvi (daughter) and Ishan (son).

Hi @Voodoochilesr: Thank you for using the request edit template. I have declined this request because the maintenance tags have already been removed. Furthermore, I have too many concerns with this edit request that make it too difficult to implement. Some concerns include the prose, which is not from a neutral point of view, using other Wikipedia pages as a reference, which are not considered reliable sources, and adding accomplishments that are not notable. If you would like help with adding this information, please post on the help desk. You may also open a new request edit ticket below by following the instructions at Template:Request edit/Instructions. Thanks and happy editing. Z1720 (talk) 03:11, 18 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
